개인적인 선호도에 최적화 및 맞춤화된 제품, 서비스를 제공하는 것은 매우 중요한 차별화 포인트다. 특히 고객 경험의 커스터마이징은 보다 진화된 형태의 맞춤화 방안이다. 애플의 ‘아이폰’ 사례를 보자. 애플은 앱스토어를 구성한 후 개방과 인센티브 부여를 통해 공급자, 파트너들의 활발한 참여를 유도해 방대한 콘텐츠, 애플리케이션을 공급하고 있다. 고객들은 애플리케이션 중 자신이 원하는 상품을 자유롭게 선택 및 이용할 수 있다. 고객들이 자신만의 맞춤화된 아이폰 사용 경험을 누리게 된 셈이다. 앱스토어에 공급하는 컨텐츠, 애플리케이션의 수가 늘어날수록 아이폰 사용을 통해 고객들이 누릴 수 있는 경험의 맞춤화 수준은 더욱 높아질 것이다.
