“In a safe and efficient digital world connected by intelligent infrastructure, it pursues more than just technology.”
As AI workloads surge, the complexity of data centers is reaching unprecedented levels. On top of physical infrastructure such as servers, storage, and networks, multiple layers of virtualization and cloud are stacked, and AI models run on top of them. The problem is that there are not many companies in Korea with integrated capabilities to organically design and operate all these layers. Large system integration (SI) companies operate on a project basis, and specialized vendors are often confined to their own product domains. This leaves a gap in the middle ground for integrated management, from hardware through SDDC (Software-Defined Data Center) to AI-based automation.

Startup WESSCOM was founded to target this gap. ITDongA met with WESSCOM co-CEOs “HW veteran” Woo Sung-chan and “SW veteran” Eom Jae-hoon, who joined forces under the conviction that “infrastructure and cloud must operate as a single organism.”
Full-stack capabilities in infrastructure, cloud, and AIFounded in 2024, WESSCOM is a startup that supports customers’ digital transformation and operational advancement, centered on an AI-based CMP (Cloud Management Platform) and IT integration solutions. The company name originates from the initials of the co-CEOs, Woo (Woo) and Eom (Eom), and signifies “WE.” “WE” encapsulates the intent of an IT specialist company (COM) to connect founders, employees, and client companies as one and drive business success (Success) through the best service (Service).
Woo Sung-chan said, “More than 25 years of experience in IT sales and technology became the foundation for accurately understanding the difficulties at customer sites,” adding, “I became convinced that infrastructure and cloud must operate as a single, organic system. This was the decisive reason for teaming up with CEO Eom Jae-hoon.”
WESSCOM’s choice of a co-CEO structure is also an extension of this philosophy. The company judged that a structure in which opinions can be exchanged freely from an equal position, rather than in a top-down hierarchy, is more advantageous for corporate development. CEO Woo is in charge of the hardware business and management operations, while CEO Eom oversees the software business and business operations. They jointly take the lead in the AI solutions domain.

WESSCOM possesses full-stack technological capabilities covering infrastructure, cloud, and AI. A key strength is its ability to secure the flexibility and scalability essential to data centers through software, while supporting everything from hardware to SDDC in a one-stop manner.
WESSCOM’s proprietary solutions are broadly divided into two categories. First, “WESS-AI” (tentative name) is an AI-based data center operations automation platform. It is configured with block-level modularization, enabling customers to select the products they want.
First-phase development of WESS-AI has been completed, and feedback is currently being collected from customers using virtualization products. CEO Eom said, “We will continue to incorporate customer feedback to further advance the solution and then commercialize it,” adding, “Ultimately, we plan to expand it into an integrated operations platform that covers components across the entire infrastructure.”
The other solution, “WESmart-AI” (tentative name), is designed to integrate and manage infrastructure, cloud, 5G mobility, and more within smart factories. It is being developed and enhanced based on the know-how accumulated during the development of WESS-AI. Since December 2025, proof-of-concept (PoC) has been underway for Korean companies located in Vietnam.
Results immediately after founding···KRW 7.1 billion in revenue within two yearsWESSCOM has produced noteworthy results since its establishment. It entered into a partnership with VMware, a Broadcom company recognized as a global leader in infrastructure, virtualization, and cloud, and then also signed a partnership with Cisco Systems. According to WESSCOM, these partnerships progressed quickly, leveraging the human networks that CEOs Woo and Eom had built even before founding the company.

CEO Eom said, “In Broadcom’s case, there were around 200 domestic partners in 2025. Recently, only 28 have maintained their partnership status, and WESSCOM is among them,” adding, “Although WESSCOM is a startup in its third year, we were able to strengthen our partnership with Broadcom thanks to our team of experts and performance such as the company’s 2025 results.”
WESSCOM’s growth trajectory has continued in Korea as well. It rapidly secured major references by winning customers in sectors with high entry barriers, including defense, finance, healthcare, public, and enterprise.
CEO Woo said, “This is the result of effectively combining WESSCOM’s technological capabilities with our human network. Because our technology is outstanding, customers place their trust in us,” adding, “Strategically targeting sectors with high entry barriers first was also a deliberate choice. As a result, WESSCOM is being recognized as a partner with robust technology implementation capabilities.”
WESSCOM’s revenue growth is also steep. After achieving KRW 3.3 billion in 2024 and KRW 7.1 billion in 2025, the company has set a revenue target of KRW 16.0 billion for 2026. While current revenue is mainly based on supplying infrastructure and cloud licenses, the company plans to significantly increase the share of AI solutions and 5G mobility services going forward.
As a result, WESSCOM was selected for the deep-tech Initial Startup Package run by the Startup Support Group at Seoul National University of Science and Technology. CEO Eom said, “Through this program, we are receiving practical growth support, including commercialization funding for prototype development and advancement, expert mentoring, and market development assistance.”
In addition, WESSCOM was selected for “Little Penguin,” the Korea Credit Guarantee Fund’s early startup nurturing program, and secured guarantees worth KRW 2.0 billion.
Strengthening trust through expert personnelWESSCOM started with two people and has grown to a workforce of about 20. A key feature is that the company is composed of expert personnel, including CEOs Woo and Eom. Its hiring criteria focus heavily on outstanding professional expertise. CEO Woo said, “We recruit employees who can perform the work of ten people and who have strong capabilities. We ensure they do not face inconveniences in their work, including administrative aspects,” adding, “We will continue to hire expert personnel in a way that balances new and experienced staff.”

Of course, WESSCOM’s growth has not been entirely smooth. CEO Woo admitted, “The biggest challenge was communication, as we started in a situation where developers and virtualization engineers lacked domain knowledge of each other’s fields.” To address this, the company conducted virtualization product training for developers and held live installation and configuration demonstrations in its in-house lab environment. Frequent meetings were also used to break down communication barriers.
Another challenge WESSCOM faces is “securing expert personnel” and “establishing proprietary solutions in the market.” To this end, the company is continuously recruiting top talent centered on its in-house AI technology research lab, and is focusing on simplifying complex customer requirements through a “one-stop integrated service” strategy that delivers everything from hardware to AI in a single package. Strengthening trust by expanding references in public, finance, defense, and enterprise sectors is also a core strategy.
WESSCOM’s in-house AI technology research lab is currently focused on packaging and advancing its solutions. The goal is to elevate AI capabilities beyond simple conversational chatbots to a level where AI can actually engage in data center operations.
Aiming to become Korea’s leading AI multi-cloud companyWESSCOM’s overseas expansion is also becoming concrete. Its defense business has opened the door to overseas markets, and the company is currently pursuing projects in the United States and the Philippines. CEO Eom said, “Once the enhancement of the WESmart-AI solution is completed, we will either enter overseas markets alongside the expansion of overseas plants by Korean manufacturers or leverage our overseas partner network to expand our market.”

According to WESSCOM’s disclosed growth strategy, the company plans to open the door to cloud management through an AI CMP, then automate operations themselves with AI Ops (AI for IT Operations), and ultimately extend this technology to manufacturing sites (smart factories). AI Ops refers to AI detecting abnormal signs in advance, analyzing the causes autonomously, and then responding automatically according to predetermined scenarios. WESSCOM emphasizes that a key aspect of its full-stack competitiveness is that this data center automation technology can be applied directly to factory equipment management.
While most CMP providers remain focused on managing IT infrastructure, WESSCOM’s strategy is to manage factory equipment (OT) as well on the same platform through WESmart-AI. There are still few companies in the smart factory market that can provide integrated monitoring of IT infrastructure and production equipment. If WESSCOM secures this position, it could create a competitive edge.
CEO Woo said, “Technology should not be an end in itself, but a tool to solve customers’ problems. What we mean by ‘more than technology’ is not just selling hardware or software, but creating value in terms of customers’ operational efficiency, cost reduction, and business agility.”
WESSCOM’s long-term goals are clear: to successfully commercialize its AI solutions and achieve KRW 70.0 billion in revenue by 2030. CEO Eom reiterated, “We will grow into Korea’s leading ‘AI-based multi-cloud specialist.’”
