Ildong Pharmaceutical Group announced on the 22nd that its healthcare platform subsidiary Saerom MS has been selected as an implementing institution for the “Non-face-to-face Island Doctor” project, which is being promoted as part of the fishing village welfare bus (Eobok Bus) program led by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries.
The Eobok Bus is a project in which the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries procures and provides services related to healthcare, food, daily life, and administration to residents of fishing villages, in order to support the living convenience and improve the welfare of people engaged in the fishing industry. The Non-face-to-face Island Doctor project aims to prevent the emergence of medical blind spots by supplying non-face-to-face remote medical services to fishers living on islands where, due to geographical characteristics, access to medical institutions is limited. The purpose is to manage the health of local residents more proactively.
In particular, by utilizing an online method that is free from time and space constraints, the project seeks to enhance access to medical services and enable timely, effective responses to situations. The goal is to substantively reduce medical disparities through linkage with hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies under the jurisdiction of local governments.
Ildong Pharmaceutical Group’s Saerom MS plans to supply its proprietary non-face-to-face treatment kiosk, “Saero Doctor.” In cooperation with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, the lead agency, and the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives Foundation, the managing organization, the company plans to install and operate more than 200 Saero Doctor units on inhabited islands without resident physicians by the end of the year. Saerom MS will also be responsible for all operational tasks, including securing networks of medical institutions and pharmacies that can partner with regions where Saero Doctor is installed.
Saerom MS’s Saero Doctor is an integrated non-face-to-face treatment solution device that allows patients to receive remote video consultations with doctors and have prescriptions transmitted to pharmacies from the installed location, without visiting a medical institution, through simple operations.
A key feature is its all-in-one format, in which the entire process—from the start to the completion of non-face-to-face treatment—can be carried out using a single kiosk device. After intuitively selecting medical staff and departments, patients can engage in smooth communication and realistic remote consultations via a large screen. Once the remote consultation is completed and the consultation fee is paid, the prescription is transmitted to a designated or affiliated pharmacy, and patients can choose where to receive the dispensed medication. For patient convenience, a user-friendly interface has been applied, including large font sizes and voice guidance.
A Saerom MS official stated, “We plan to do our best in establishing and operating the service system so that the Non-face-to-face Island Doctor project can help protect the health of fishers and raise the level of medical care in island regions,” adding, “We will continue to participate in public welfare projects through ongoing technology development and service improvements.”
