SK AX, a company specializing in artificial intelligence transformation (AX), is joining forces with global human resources consulting firm Mercer to initiate a fundamental innovation in corporate management practices. The company plans to create an autonomous work environment in which employees and AI communicate closely, while comprehensively supporting internal system overhauls to back this up. Beyond the unilateral adoption of technology, the core focus is a structural transition that expands employees’ capabilities.
SK AX announced on the 8th that it has signed a business agreement with Mercer to establish a management system centered on the harmony between humans and technology. At the signing ceremony held at its Seongnam headquarters, key stakeholders including SK AX CEO Kim Wan-jong and Mercer Korea Co-CEO Jang Ji-won gathered to coordinate concrete implementation plans. Mercer is a global human resources institution that operates in more than 130 countries worldwide, advising on risk management and human capital design.
In the industrial sector, the latest focus is evolving beyond simple function application toward “harness engineering,” which refers to an autonomous control environment. In this advanced work structure, technology does not remain a mere assistant but performs its role organically, while humans concentrate on management and final decision-making. Experts advise that simply layering technology onto existing work processes has clear limits and that the structure itself must be redesigned from the ground up.

Accordingly, the two companies will jointly carry out the establishment of a management model for the coexistence of human resources and technology, job design and performance evaluation standards, and competency assessments. Under this framework, Mercer will design human resources policies from a macro perspective, while SK AX will develop and provide an intelligent management platform to implement them in practice.
CEO Kim Wan-jong stated that future market leadership will be determined not by whether technology is embedded, but by how quickly the entire organization can synchronize. He explained that SK AX plans to build a central axis spanning from recruitment to development by combining the company’s practical execution experience with Mercer’s insights.
Co-CEO Jang Ji-won also noted that numerous companies have faced the challenge of organizational transformation after implementing technology. Jang projected that combining Mercer’s diagnostic methodologies with SK AX’s infrastructure would enable tangible, on-the-ground advancement that the industry can clearly perceive.
The intelligent system to be introduced by SK AX is designed to link job data with competencies to enhance company-wide efficiency. Internal resources, data, and management decisions will be interconnected in real time to drive horizontal integration and faster execution. In addition, the company plans to connect literacy programs—customized capability-building curricula—with practical training courses so that employees can directly solve on-site challenges using technology.
SK AX commented that many companies struggle with on-site integration and cultural diffusion even after adopting new technologies, and stated that, through this collaboration, it will provide close support to help client companies evolve into fundamentally innovative enterprises that embed technological capabilities across their entire business operations.
