Daewoo Engineering & Construction (Daewoo E&C) announced on the 24th that Chairman Jung Won-ju visited Vietnam as a member of the economic delegation accompanying President Lee Jae-myung’s state visit, where he shared key project achievements and expanded the basis for new cooperation.
According to Daewoo E&C, Chairman Jung attended official events such as the Korea–Vietnam Business Roundtable and forums during the visit, which ran from the 21st to the 24th, and presented Daewoo E&C’s experience and achievements in development projects in Vietnam. The company also stated that he joined the completion ceremony of the “B3CC1 Mixed-Use Development Project” in Hanoi and signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with a local company on cooperation in data center projects.
In particular, the completion ceremony for the “B3CC1 Mixed-Use Development Project” held on the 22nd was regarded as the core item on the agenda during this visit.
The project is a large-scale mixed-use complex with three basement levels and 35 above-ground floors, and a total floor area of 211,462㎡, combining offices, a hotel, and commercial facilities. Daewoo E&C led the overall process from development and investment to construction, with eight Korean companies including KDB Industrial Bank and KB Securities participating. Hotel Shilla will operate the hotel and residences, which are scheduled to open in October 2026.
At the completion ceremony, Chairman Jung stated, “The B3CC1 project is a symbolic project of Korea–Vietnam economic cooperation,” expressing his gratitude to the governments and related institutions of both countries.
On the same day, Chairman Jung visited the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) and met with CEO Le Ngoc Lam to discuss financial cooperation measures for business expansion in the future. BIDV has been a key partner, participating in major Daewoo E&C projects such as Starlake City.
In addition, on the 23rd, Daewoo E&C signed a “business agreement on joint participation in data center projects” with Vietnamese IT and infrastructure company Saigontel. The two companies plan to cooperate on engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) and joint investment projects for data centers in Vietnam. Their aim is to generate synergies by combining Daewoo E&C’s construction and investment capabilities with Saigontel’s local development experience.
Daewoo E&C has positioned Vietnam as a core strategic market and has been expanding its urban development projects. It is currently carrying out projects in areas including Starlake City in Hanoi, Kien Giang in Hung Yen Province, and Nhon Trach in Dong Nai Province, and is promoting the establishment of integrated smart cities that encompass large-scale arena developments along with residential and commercial facilities.
During the visit, Chairman Jung stated, “Through the development of converged smart cities that incorporate culture and large-scale arenas, we will contribute to exchanges between the two countries and to Vietnam’s economic growth,” and expressed his intention to participate in building digital infrastructure including data centers, as well as in projects such as the North–South high-speed railway and nuclear power generation.
A Daewoo E&C representative said, “Vietnam is a core partner market built on trust,” adding, “We will expand cooperation beyond urban development into various fields such as nuclear power plants, high-speed railways, and data centers.”
