The government will attend the world’s largest home appliance exhibition, “CES 2026,” to seek cooperation with various global companies. It plans a series of meetings with key players in semiconductor and artificial intelligence (AI) supply chains, including Nvidia and OpenAI, to accelerate global AI cooperation involving domestic companies.
The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 5th that Second Vice Minister Ryu Je-myeong will attend “CES 2026,” the world’s largest home appliance exhibition, to be held in Las Vegas, United States, from the 6th to the 9th of this month as the government representative. Hosted by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) and marking its 59th anniversary this year, CES is being held under the theme “Innovations Show Up,” with about 4,500 global companies participating. From Korea, major conglomerates such as Samsung Electronics, Hyundai Motor, LG Electronics, and Doosan will take part in large numbers.
During the event, Vice Minister Ryu plans to visit the exhibition booth of global semiconductor design company Arm to call for cooperation with the domestic AI semiconductor industry, and to hold meetings with major Korean companies to discuss public-private cooperation measures. After the event, he will move on to San Francisco to hold high-level meetings with Nvidia and OpenAI, where he plans to discuss global AI cooperation strategies for Korea to emerge as an Asia-Pacific AI hub.
Government-funded research institutes will also participate in the event, showcasing achievements in “future growth engine” sectors such as robotics, AI, and healthcare. The Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) will set up four independent booths to exhibit products from researcher-founded startups, including “Core Movement,” which has developed the world’s first bathtub-integrated EMS (electrical muscle stimulation) healthcare system, and “Spotter,” which has developed a collaborative robot-based screw-fastening automation solution.
The Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), through its AI·Robot Research Division, will exhibit “CTScan,” an AI platform for smart city safety management. It is a low-power, high-performance technology that can analyze multiple CCTV video feeds in real time with a single graphics processing unit (GPU). The Natural Product New Drug Development Group plans to showcase an AI-based drug discovery platform.
