IT Donga introduces the growth stories and innovative achievements of AI startups fostered by Seoul City University.
The explosive growth of the content industry results in a daily influx of numerous videos and related demands. The problem is that this accumulated video data becomes entangled in storage without even having titles organized. To find a single necessary scene, one must sift through dozens of folders, leading to inefficiency. Tenmilligram (10MG) is a company that has stepped forward to solve this problem with technology. Their developing solution, 'Wedeo,' is a media content asset management solution designed to systematically manage and rapidly recycle video content assets. It analyzes the audio and text within videos using AI to automatically generate subtitles and extract key tags, enabling quick searches for desired scenes. The company also plans to provide a workspace where multiple people can collaborate on a single video.

Development of 'Wedeo' Incorporating Know-how from Operating a Video Production CompanyRyu Tae-kyung, CEO of Tenmilligram, stated, “The reason for developing the media content asset management solution 'Wedeo' was due to personal inconvenience. Tenmilligram is a media company that simultaneously engages in video content production and outsourcing. During this process, there were many instances of communication with client companies regarding videos, which was inconvenient. For example, when receiving a request like 'Please edit the man appearing around 2 minutes and 30 seconds into the video,' there would be about 10 men appearing in that section,” he explained. “There was also the inconvenience of having to search through all the videos worked on with a company when asked if last year's event videos could be reused. The thought of 'Can't we work a bit more efficiently in this flood of video demand?' was the starting point for developing Wedeo.”

He continued, “To efficiently manage media content, we applied a function to Wedeo that extracts key tags from videos using AI analysis technology. Thanks to this, even if titles or descriptions are not properly attached to video files, necessary scenes can be easily found through keyword searches,” he said. “Wedeo also features the ability to recognize dialogue in videos and convert it to text, as well as automatically classify key scenes. We are developing a multilingual subtitle function to allow content created once to be used with subtitles in various languages. Once Wedeo is launched, it is expected to be useful for both one-person media companies lacking video editors and companies looking to export content overseas.”

Wedeo also offers a collaborative workspace feature where multiple people can view a single video project simultaneously and provide feedback.

CEO Ryu Tae-kyung emphasized, “Until now, video content work involved completing edits, sending files to the counterpart for confirmation, receiving modification requests, and then resending the results. This process incurred significant time and cost due to the large file sizes being exchanged,” he said. “By using Wedeo, multiple people can intuitively provide feedback on a single video project and immediately find and edit necessary scenes using tags. Our internal tests showed that communication costs could be reduced by about 70%, and productivity could be increased more than threefold.”
Tenmilligram “Aiming for Global Stage with Successful Launch of Wedeo and Enhanced Multilingual Translation Features”Tenmilligram, now in the final stages of Wedeo's development, faces challenges in funding and manpower.
CEO Ryu Tae-kyung stated, “We are currently developing Wedeo independently without external investment. When the time comes to launch the solution and require a significant resource investment, we plan to consider attracting investment,” he said. “Currently, two designers and two developers are working diligently to assist with technology development and service planning. After the solution's launch, we plan to hire additional personnel to accelerate development speed or expand functions. For now, we are focusing on the completion of Wedeo technology based on revenue generated from our content production capabilities.”
He continued, “Thanks to being located in Seoul City University's Campus Town, we were able to accelerate the solution's development. The support program was useful not only for prototype development costs but also for mentoring in areas requiring aesthetic completion, such as UI/UX,” he said. “The university's intern program allowed us to infuse the team with the young perspectives and sensibilities of students. We even hired a talented student as a Tenmilligram employee. The space support, entrepreneur education, and AI trend seminars provided by Campus Town have also served as a foundation for the company's growth.”

Tenmilligram plans to pursue global expansion following the solution's launch.
CEO Ryu Tae-kyung stated, “After the launch of Wedeo next year, we aim to enhance the multilingual translation feature to assist with the recycling of video content in more languages. This would allow Korean content companies to conduct various businesses in the global market with their video content assets. We hope to be recognized for laying that foundation,” he said. “To this end, we are planning to establish a branch in the United States and enter the Southeast Asian market. Amid the explosive increase in video demand, where many are focusing on video consumers, Tenmilligram is striving to improve the inconveniences faced by video suppliers. We aim to establish ourselves as a company that creates tools allowing meticulously crafted content by suppliers to reach the world.”
