The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT) announced on the 2nd that they successfully concluded the operation of the K-Food promotional booth at the '2025 K-EXPO: All about K-Style', jointly hosted by related ministries including the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The K-Food promotional booth, operated at the 'Centro de Artes' in the heart of Madrid, Spain, showcased products such as kimchi, ramen, sauces like gochujang, and beverages to local consumers.
In particular, market tests were conducted using convenient foods such as tteokbokki and dumplings, which are gaining interest among the local young generation. Additionally, the 'Cooking Atelier' program offered participants the opportunity to make fresh kimchi themselves, learn about the characteristics of Korean red pepper powder and kimchi, and experience the health benefits of fermented foods.
A cooking show by a famous chef also took place. Chef Park Joon-woo, the runner-up of Season 1 of the TV show 'MasterChef Korea' and known as the 'Black and White Chef' on Netflix, presented Korean-style fruit punch beverages using omija and maesil syrup, reflecting Europe's vegan trend with gochujang vegetable bibimbap.
Jeon Ki-chan, Director of Export Food at aT, stated, "K-Food is establishing itself as one of the global trends with its unique deep flavors and health benefits," and added, "We will continue to provide necessary support to expand K-Food exports, taking into account the market characteristics of Southern European countries, including Spain, which enjoys spicy flavors."
Meanwhile, interest in K-Food is growing alongside the rising popularity of Korean culture in Spain. As of the end of August, K-Food exports to Spain recorded a 31.2% increase compared to the previous year, reaching USD 46.94 million.
