Metacraft announced on the 5th that its web novel platform 'Novelpia Global' recorded a cumulative view count of 68 million within three months of its service launch.
As of December 4, Novelpia Global reported 70,901 cumulative subscribers, 67,967,057 cumulative accesses, and 2,833,526 cumulative visitors. Metacraft stated, "This is a relatively fast initial growth rate among domestic web novel platforms expanding overseas," adding that it demonstrates the potential for K-web novels to expand internationally.
Metacraft cited AI translation technology and a reader-participatory editing structure as factors for the platform's growth. Currently, 1,382 works have been translated and are in service, with local readers enhancing the initial AI-generated translations to fit the genre and context, thereby improving translation quality. This structure is said to secure both translation speed and localization accuracy.
Additionally, the subscription model that Novelpia has operated domestically has been applied overseas, positively impacting subscriber growth. It is analyzed that offering a variety of works at relatively lower prices in markets where per-episode payment is common aligns with local user demand.
Metacraft is also accelerating the establishment of an overseas creative ecosystem. It has opened the 'Indie (Free Serialization)' category, allowing anyone to post works without review, and operates the 'Writing Challenge' program, offering creators a reward opportunity of up to USD 2,000. Metacraft anticipates that this program will form the foundation of a global indie author nurturing system.
Novelpia Global plans to expand its range beyond web novels to include AI-based webtoons and animation content, establishing a structure that provides both reading and viewing content. This is expected to increase membership subscription retention rates and contribute to securing 1 million subscribers within the next two years.
A Metacraft representative stated, "We believe that the AI translation-based content supply system and the subscription model have influenced user acquisition," and added, "We will continue to support local authors and improve services to expand as a global web novel platform."
