The Future of K-Agriculture and Rural Areas: Korea Institute of Agricultural Technology Promotion
The agriculture industry, once known as the industry of sweat, is evolving into an industry of data and technology.
Autonomous robots roam farms, artificial intelligence analyzes feed, and blockchain records the trustworthiness of food. In the advanced technology sector of the agri-food venture and startup activation support project operated by the Korea Agriculture Technology Promotion Agency, startups armed with creative ideas and technological prowess are transforming the paradigm of the agri-food industry.
Building Trust in the Food Industry with AI and Blockchain―FutureSense
“Trust and sustainability in food start with data.”
FutureSense (CEO Ahn Dami) has developed the AI and blockchain-based food traceability platform 'Food4Chain', digitally connecting the entire process of food manufacturing, distribution, and export. This system simultaneously handles regulatory compliance and quality verification for export K-food in response to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) food traceability requirements. Additionally, with AI-based demand forecasting and optimization algorithms, it has achieved results in reducing loss rates in the production and distribution process and reducing food waste.
At CES 2025 and GITEX 2025, it signed cooperation MOUs with overseas companies, laying the foundation for global expansion. FutureSense is emerging as a next-generation agri-food data company targeting both food safety and food security.
Farms Operated by Robots―Crable
The completion of smart agriculture lies in autonomous driving.
Crable (CEO Kim Jin-hyung) is realizing large-scale farm automation by combining the autonomous driving kit 'Autoa' with the farm operation platform 'Farm OS'.
Autoa can be easily mounted on existing tractors or rice planters and enables precise driving at the centimeter level based on RTK and INS sensors. Currently, a demonstration project for autonomous driving is underway in an Indonesian plantation in collaboration with POSCO International, and work data is integrated and managed through Farm OS, accelerating the digital transformation (DX) of farms. Crable is gaining attention as a platform company leading the digital transformation of agriculture beyond autonomous driving solutions.
AI Reads the Flow of Feed―Aimbeelab
The productivity of the livestock industry hinges on feed management.
Aimbeelab (CEO Go Byung-soo) has developed the AI and IoT-based smart feed management solution 'MyFeed', providing precise data and monitoring the internal state of feed bins (containers that store feed in bulk for automatic line transport) remotely across wide areas. By offering reasonable pricing and easy installation and maintenance, it has reduced the adoption burden for farms and has also entered the overseas market with successful exports to Malaysia.
AI reads the flow, and farmers stand at a turning point where they can make management decisions based on data.
The Fusion of Traditional Wisdom and Advanced Science―Ownerb
Ownerb (CEO Jeong Won-cheol) supplies standardized natural ingredients and AI-based patient-customized pharmaceutical systems to traditional medical practitioners worldwide. By scientifically verifying and standardizing the efficacy and content of ingredients, and improving pharmaceutical processes through digital transformation and automation, it has overcome the low reliability and inefficient production systems of traditional medicines. Starting with Hong Kong and Japan, it is emerging as a new global growth axis of K-medicine by combining the wisdom of Korean traditional medicine with modern science.
Opening a New Path in Livestock Finance―Stock Keeper 'BankCow'
Stock Keeper (CEO Ahn Jae-hyun) is continuing new attempts to transform a single Hanwoo cow into an asset through the blockchain-based livestock finance platform 'BankCow'. The 'Livestock Asset Securitization (STO)' model, which tokenizes the growth and genetic data of Hanwoo, provides a path for farms to raise funds and offers investors a transparent and stable revenue structure. By collaborating with major financial institutions such as NongHyup Bank and Shinhan Investment Corp., it is making the financialization of the livestock industry a reality and building a sustainable livestock finance ecosystem where farms, consumers, and investors participate together based on blockchain technology.
Technology Creates a New Ecosystem in Agriculture
The agri-food venture and startup activation support project is a full-cycle support system that spans from preliminary startups to growth, advanced technology enhancement, commercialization, and investment linkage. Among these, the advanced technology sector connects technology verification and market entry, increasing the speed of field application and expanding contact points with the private sector. As the experiments of ventures armed with data and technology accumulate into industry standards, agriculture is rapidly transforming into an intelligent industry.
Ahn Ho-geun, President of the Korea Agriculture Technology Promotion Agency, stated, “The competitiveness of agriculture comes from technology and data,” and added, “We will change the constitution of agriculture and expand future workplaces together with ventures that solve field problems with technology.”
