‘Beginner Running Course.’

Entering two words and completing the payment for a 'windbreaker' necessary for running took only 30 seconds. The initial search screen listed the beginner running courses closest to my home, along with beginner precautions about the risk of a sudden drop in body temperature if sweat cools quickly, and a question about whether a 'windbreaker' is needed. Soon, a product from a brand I usually like appeared, and I pressed the purchase button right there. But how did it know I didn't have a windbreaker needed for running?

This is the future vision of Naver's integrated AI agent 'Agent N,' unveiled at the 'DAN 25' integrated conference held at COEX in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, on the 6th. Naver aims to integrate data from various services such as search, shopping, finance, and cafe activities to provide personalized AI services tailored to each user. Naver CEO Choi Soo-yeon stated in her keynote speech, "With the implementation of the integrated agent AI, there is no need to worry about what search terms to enter," adding, "Agent N will understand the context and predict the next action to show." Just like being able to press the purchase button without searching for which windbreaker is good.

● Naver's Transformation from 'Search' to 'Execution'

Kim Beom-jun, Naver's Chief Operating Officer (COO), who oversaw the development of Agent N, declared, "We will change Naver's identity from 'search' to 'execution' through Agent N." This reflects the intent to evolve into an action-oriented agent that can lead to actions beyond mere recommendations or suggestions.

Major big tech companies like OpenAI, Google, and Perplexity have already introduced shopping payment functions in AI to improve profitability. Naver emphasizes its ability to understand users' 'context' as a differentiator from these companies. By utilizing data obtained from various services such as search, shopping, reservations, maps (places), and cafes, different results can be presented depending on the user, even when entering the same keyword like 'living room lighting.' For example, lighting suitable for a newlywed home or a child's learning environment could be suggested. Kim COO stated, "I believe only Naver can provide AI that helps at just the right moment."

Naver plans to release a 'shopping agent' specialized for shopping based on Agent N in the first quarter (January to March) of next year, and an 'AI Tab' integrating all agents in the second quarter (April to June).

● "Even 60,000 Blackwell GPUs Are Not Enough" Focus on Vertical AI Capabilities

CEO Choi emphasized in the announcement that the source of power to implement Agent N comes from "Naver being a 'full-stack AI' company that designs and executes the entire technology process from data centers to cloud services." Last month, Naver promised to co-develop a 'physical AI' platform with NVIDIA and agreed to supply 60,000 units of the latest graphics processing unit (GPU), 'Blackwell.' Kim Yoo-won, CEO of Naver Cloud, stated, "The newly introduced GPUs will be used to enhance Naver AI and in physical AI and vertical AI (industry-specific AI)," adding, "Even 60,000 units are not enough."

Naver Cloud is currently developing vertical AI with companies in major domestic industries such as the Bank of Korea (finance), Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (energy), and Daedong Group (agriculture). CEO Kim stated, "We are also developing vertical AI in industries that cannot be swayed by other countries, such as defense and manufacturing," adding, "We are playing a role as a company that understands Korea's language, data, and industrial structure most deeply."
