The Policy Evaluation Research Institute (PERI, Director An Jong-beom) officially launched the AI-based policy risk response solution 'PERI AI' (http://askperi.kr/periai) on the 3rd. PERI AI is a policy AI agent that provides vast policy information scattered across government departments, the National Assembly, and public institutions in a conversational and customized manner.

PERI AI is a new platform offering chatbot functionality and member-customized notification services. It significantly upgrades the AI-based one-stop policy platform 'askPERI' launched by PERI in March last year. It has been improved to allow users to obtain necessary policy information more easily in a conversational format, reflecting the requests of existing askPERI members.

The main services include ① a conversational policy information response service ② automatic generation of an AI dashboard for customized policy and regulation monitoring ③ an issue notification feature that provides real-time updates on major policy changes.

The 'conversational response service' allows users to easily search and receive customized answers to a wide range of policy information, such as laws, bills, regulations, National Assembly minutes, public institution management evaluation materials, government reports, government budgets and subsidies, and public institution statistical information, with simple questions without visiting multiple sites. PERI explained, "The focus is on strategic utilization beyond simple information search."

The 'customized policy issue notification service' provided to subscribers delivers real-time changes in policy trends such as related bills, regulations, and budgets based on the user's pre-designated areas of interest. This is intended to help various users, including policy response or public affairs personnel, academia, businesses, and individuals, to preemptively identify crisis and opportunity factors related to policies.

PERI highlighted the minimization of AI 'hallucination' (generation of false information) as the biggest differentiator of PERI AI. The PERI AI development team emphasized, "It will become a representative service providing the most reliable search results to domestic policy information consumers, as it is trained based on highly reliable policy information directly selected and collected by PERI."

PERI AI not only utilizes public data and policy information collected and built by PERI but also offers services using six patented models acquired by PERI, including ① bill-legislator relationships ② law-regulation linkage consulting ③ company-industry linkage solutions ④ budget-subsidy linkage consulting ⑤ management evaluation consulting. It is expected to be a useful service not only for existing askPERI members but also for companies, associations, local governments, and public institutions that need to reduce policy risks and establish proactive response strategies through policy information.

An Jong-beom, Director of the Policy Evaluation Research Institute, stated, "With the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Gyeongju as an opportunity, Korea has established itself as a key stage of the 'AI Industrial Revolution,'" and added, "Through the public data-based policy AI platform PERI AI, we plan to prove that Korea can lead the world in the fields of digital government and public data."
