NC’s massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) AION 2 is receiving strong reviews overseas for its graphics and gameplay, and the generative AI technology “VARCO” from NC AI, which was used in the development of AION 2, is now being opened more broadly to external creators as well.

Overseas game media outlets have highlighted AION 2’s graphics, flight, and combat systems as its core strengths. One outlet evaluated the graphics by stating, “To be honest, it shows the best graphics of any MMO we have seen so far.” On the flight system, it added, “The feeling at the very moment the character takes off into the air is fun every single time.”

Behind this level of completeness lies NC’s AI technology. During the development of AION 2, NC AI’s VARCO technology was extensively utilized. The 3D assets and sounds that fill the in-game world are key elements that determine visual completeness and immersion. VARCO integrates generative AI into this production process, helping the development team quickly concretize ideas and finely polish the output.

“VARCO 3D” is a 3D generative AI service with global state-of-the-art (SOTA) level performance. It creates high-quality 3D assets based on text and images. When a user describes the desired shape in natural language or provides reference images, it generates three-dimensional results accordingly. It supports textures with resolutions of up to 4K, enabling detailed expression of surfaces and textures of objects.

“VARCO Sound” analyzes the context of text, images, and videos to generate a variety of sounds, including Foley, sound effects (SFX), and ambience. Its strength lies in generating individual sounds as separate multitracks. Users can finely edit the results to match scenes and production intent by adjusting the volume of each track, or by replacing or deleting specific sounds.

The recently released official version includes a “Sound Agent” that launches generation and editing tools through natural language dialogue. When the user describes the desired task in text, the agent interprets the intent and automatically runs the necessary tools. The maximum audio generation time has also been extended from the previous 20 seconds to 60 seconds, reducing constraints in content production.

NC AI has opened its technology, used in large-scale projects such as AION 2, so that more creators can utilize it. VARCO 3D and VARCO Sound can be widely used, from reviewing initial concepts for professional productions to producing 3D assets and sounds for small development teams and individual creators. Even beginners unfamiliar with professional tools can create desired shapes and sounds using only text and images. NC AI plans to lower the initial burden on developers and expand opportunities for a wide range of users to employ VARCO in actual production processes.
