Lotte Innovate is forming an alliance with CMC Group, a major information technology (IT) company in Vietnam, to target the Southeast Asian market in new growth areas such as data centers and electric vehicle (EV) charging networks.

Lotte Innovate announced on the 14th that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for strategic business cooperation with CMC Group in Hanoi, Vietnam. The company plans to combine the know-how it has accumulated in operating IT systems in Vietnam with the new-business technologies it has refined in Korea to strengthen its position in the Southeast Asian market.

Based on this agreement, the two sides will seek joint business opportunities in five areas: hyperscale data centers, EV charging services as a charge point operator (CPO), information security, offshore IT services, and cloud. Their strategy is to secure new customers by combining Lotte Innovate’s engineering and operational capabilities with CMC Group’s local order-intake network.

In the data center segment, Lotte Innovate will review the feasibility of entering the hyperscale data center market in Vietnam, leveraging the design–build–operate (DBO) capabilities it has accumulated in Korea. Lotte Innovate has been steadily expanding its domestic data center business infrastructure while enhancing operational efficiency and technological assets.

In the EV charging field, the company aims to enter Vietnam’s charging infrastructure market by applying the facility construction and operation solutions of its EV charger specialist affiliate EVSIS. In addition, the two companies plan to refine an alliance model in information security, offshore IT services, and cloud by linking their respective specialized technologies.

This strategic alliance is underpinned by Lotte Innovate’s long-standing track record in building IT systems in Vietnam’s financial IT market. The company has been responsible for building and operating the core IT network of the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank), and has carried out IT infrastructure projects for the Vietnamese subsidiary of Industrial Bank of Korea (IBK), thereby building technical credibility in local financial IT systems. Lotte Innovate plans to move beyond its existing business structure centered on IT network maintenance, diversify its portfolio into higher value-added areas such as data centers and EV charging, and develop Vietnam as a hub for Southeast Asia.

CMC Group, Lotte Innovate’s partner, is a leading Vietnamese IT company with a business history of more than 30 years, operating in various fields from software development to artificial intelligence (AI), cloud, and digital infrastructure construction. It has overseas subsidiaries in major countries, including South Korea, Japan, the United States, and European nations.

Choi Jong-pil, head of Lotte Innovate’s Vietnam subsidiary, said, “We are expanding our scope by integrating the experience gained from financial IT projects in Vietnam with the data center and EV charging infrastructure technologies secured in Korea. Through cooperation with CMC Group, we will solidify our local foundation and generate tangible results in future growth sectors.”

Lotte Innovate plans to continue expanding its global partnerships while creating synergies between its existing system integration (SI) business and new businesses, in order to further strengthen its competitiveness in the Southeast Asian market.
