LS Group is strengthening cooperation with three Central Asian countries—Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan—in the energy, telecommunications, and resources sectors.

LS Group announced on the 17th that, on the occasion of the recent “Korea–Central Asia 5 Countries Summit and Business Summit,” it signed memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with government officials from the three countries for the establishment of telecommunications cable production infrastructure, mineral development, and the creation of a rare metals industry ecosystem.

LS Cable & System will work with the Ministry of Communications of Turkmenistan to establish a local optical cable manufacturing facility and expand supply. The two sides have been in related discussions since 2024 and plan to discuss specific business plans and implementation schedules going forward. LS MnM has agreed with the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan to review the potential for mineral resource development and investment, and to establish information-sharing and cooperation measures in this area.

In Kazakhstan, LS plans to expand technological and industrial cooperation in rare metals together with the National Center for Rare Metals of the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology and the Satbayev University Institute of Metallurgy and Ore Beneficiation.

LS stated, “Central Asia is a region with significant growth potential, backed by the advancement of telecommunications infrastructure and abundant mineral resources,” adding, “Based on our technological capabilities in power and telecommunications infrastructure, as well as in resources and materials, we will expand new market opportunities for the group.”
