LG is introducing an artificial intelligence (AI)-based Korean stock prediction service.
LG AI Research, the LG Group’s AI think tank, and KOSCOM signed a “strategic business agreement (MOU) for the provision of AI-based Korean financial data analysis services” at KOSCOM’s headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, on the 7th. The signing ceremony was attended by key officials including LG AI Research Co-Head Lim Woo-hyung and Head of Business Development Division Lee Hwa-young, as well as KOSCOM CEO Yoon Chang-hyun and Senior Executive Vice President Lee Chang-jin.
KOSCOM is a capital markets IT solutions specialist that builds and operates the entire IT infrastructure for the securities and derivatives markets and the financial investment industry. It collects and processes trading data generated in the capital markets and provides financial institutions with the information and services they require. It is also a securities-related institution for which Korea Exchange (KRX) is the largest shareholder (stake of about 77%) and which is subject to supervision and oversight by the Financial Services Commission.
Under this agreement, LG AI Research plans to combine KOSCOM’s financial data with its financial AI agent “EXAONE Business Intelligence (EXAONE BI),” which incorporates AI prediction technology, to build a prediction and analysis service specialized for the Korean stock market. LG AI Research explained that EXAONE BI is a finance-specialized AI in which multiple AI agents collaborate to perform data analysis, reasoning, prediction, and explanation generation, thereby supporting complex business decision-making. LG AI Research has previously applied AI prediction technologies in various fields, including lithium price prediction related to supply chains, AI ETFs, and various demand forecasts. The institute stated it possesses expertise and data in the field of prediction technology.
In particular, AEFS (AI-Powered Equity Forecast Score), developed based on EXAONE BI, was introduced as a data product that provides a score predicting the share price trend of individual stocks over the next four weeks, together with the basis for that judgment in the form of a commentary.
An LG AI Research official said, “AEFS analyzes about 8,000 stocks listed on the Korean and U.S. stock exchanges every day and provides stock-specific prediction scores and analysis commentaries at the level of financial experts,” adding, “It goes beyond simply predicting price trends, as the AI presents the basis on which it reached its conclusions, thereby supporting investors’ data-based decision-making.”
In fact, LG AI Research, in cooperation with London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) in the United Kingdom, has already launched in the global market a service that uses AI to predict and analyze stocks listed on U.S. exchanges. The service is reported to be receiving positive evaluations for resolving the black-box issue — the lack of identifiable causes, a traditional limitation of financial AI — and for providing explainable insights.

This year, as the upward momentum of the Korean stock market has become more pronounced, interest in data related to Korean listed companies has been rising, particularly among foreign financial firms and institutional investors. At the same time, as financial market volatility has increased, demand for AI-based prediction and analysis information is also on the rise. It is said that the collaboration between LG AI Research and KOSCOM is being pursued in line with this demand.
Specifically, KOSCOM will provide financial data necessary for analyzing the Korean stock market, including domestic stock trading data, corporate disclosures, and domestic macroeconomic indicators. Based on this, LG AI Research said it has optimized EXAONE BI’s time-series forecasting and data analysis technologies to fit the Korean market environment. The service is expected to be offered through KOSCOM’s domestic client base and the global distribution channels of LSEG, which is collaborating with LG AI Research.
In addition, LG AI Research and KOSCOM plan to continuously evaluate the appropriateness of the basis for score calculation and the completeness of commentary information, and manage service quality, in order to minimize hallucination that may occur in AI’s analysis and explanation-generation processes.
LG AI Research Co-Head Lim Woo-hyung said, “In the stock market, the ability of AI to explain why it presents certain results is as important as prediction accuracy,” adding, “Based on LG’s AI technology, we will provide reliable information to both domestic and overseas institutional and individual investors and contribute to innovation in AI services in the financial sector.”
Meanwhile, LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo, in his New Year’s address this year, emphasized a leap forward through new innovation amid changing technology paradigms, rules of competition, and rising customer expectations, signaling a strengthening of the AI business. In line with this, LG Group is shifting away from its previous balanced growth stance toward restructuring around AI. The collaboration with LSEG in the UK is cited as a successful case in the financial AI business, raising expectations for the Korean stock prediction service.
