The largest healthcare industry trade exhibition held outside the Seoul metropolitan area, which took place in Daegu, achieved export consultation results amounting to approximately USD 110 million (about KRW 168.3 billion), confirming the global competitiveness of the regional medical industry.

Daegu City announced on the 6th that it had concluded the “Mediexpo Korea,” held from the 3rd to the 5th at EXCO in Buk-gu, with around 30,000 visitors in attendance.

This event, hosted by Daegu City and co-organized by EXCO, K-MEDI hub, the Daegu Dental Association, and others, integrated several exhibitions, including the Korea Health Medical Industry Expo, the Korea International Digital Advanced Medical Device and Medical Industry Exhibition (KOADMEX), the Daegu International Dental Scientific Congress and Exhibition, and the Dental Industry Exhibition (DIDEX). It was held on a scale of 350 companies and 750 booths.

In particular, at the one-on-one export consultation sessions with more than 60 overseas buyers from 20 countries, including the United States, Vietnam, and the Philippines, 534 consultations were conducted with a total value of USD 110 million. Hospital and public health center purchasing consultations and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy’s Bio Caravan consulting program were also arranged to support market development for participating companies.

The startup special zone, introduced for the first time this year, hosted investment pitch sessions (IR) for promising companies and a program inviting venture capital firms. The KOADMEX job fair also produced results in attracting investment and revitalizing local employment through on-site interviews and job matching.

Kim Tae-woon, Director General for Future Innovation and Growth of Daegu City, said, “This was an opportunity to confirm the competitiveness and growth potential of Daegu’s medical industry,” adding, “The city will continue to foster the digital-based advanced medical and healthcare industry.”
