The project to establish a European-style spa resort at the 'Golden Harbor', the hinterland of Incheon Port International Passenger Terminal, is set to commence in earnest.

The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority announced on the 29th that it has signed a basic agreement with Therme Group Korea regarding the 'Therme Global Healing Spa & Resort' project. The Incheon Economic Authority began promoting this project after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for mutual cooperation with Therme Group in November 2022.

Therme Group, headquartered in Austria, operates spa resorts in countries such as Germany and Romania. A distinctive feature is the integration of an indoor dome space, operable year-round, with a large botanical garden. Notably, the Romanian resort, which opened in 2017, is expected to attract approximately 1.7 million visitors this year.

Under this agreement, Therme Group plans to invest a total of KRW 850.8 billion to develop a glass dome-shaped spa and resort on a 99,000㎡ site within the Golden Harbor of Songdo International City, Zone 9.

The Incheon Economic Authority intends to enter into a land lease contract and a main project agreement with the special purpose company (SPC) established by Therme Group in January next year, following the review by the Incheon City Shared Property Deliberation Committee.

An official from the Incheon Economic Authority stated, "The Therme Songdo project is expected to become a healing landmark within the city for citizens," adding, "We will provide support to ensure the main agreement proceeds without issues."
