Netform R&D, a building MRO technology company led by CEO Lee Seung-woo, announced on the 5th that it has secured strategic investment (SI) from ETRI Holdings, a technology commercialization investment institution wholly funded by the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI).
The investment amount remains undisclosed, and through this investment, the two companies will jointly develop AI-based paint quality management technology for the first time in the construction sector.
Netform R&D is a smart technology company specializing in the development of construction, diagnostic, and material technologies necessary for the maintenance and management of existing buildings, rather than traditional construction technologies focused on new constructions.
The building MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) sector is gaining attention as a stable and continuously growing market, unlike the new construction market, due to the increase in aging buildings, strengthened safety standards, and the expansion of ESG-based sustainable management.
Through this collaboration with ETRI, Netform R&D plans to jointly develop a quality management technology that can quantitatively analyze and manage the 'paint adhesion' previously assessed qualitatively in the paint sector, using AI technology and precision measurement equipment.
This technology is the first AI-based paint quantitative evaluation system attempted in the domestic industrial paint sector and is expected to significantly enhance reliability and standardization levels in the material sector of the building maintenance field.
CEO Lee Seung-woo of Netform R&D stated, “This investment and strategic collaboration with ETRI Holdings holds technological innovation significance beyond mere investment,” adding, “By integrating AI technology into the outdated building maintenance market, unlike the new construction market, we aim to achieve both industrial advancement and market standardization, and will continue to pursue various technological innovations with ETRI as a technology company.”
Jeon Jae-hoon, Chief Investment Officer of ETRI Holdings, remarked, “It is time to introduce deep tech technology into the conservative building maintenance industry, and we expect Netform R&D to internalize ETRI's deep tech technology into its core business and grow into a unique technology-based company in the market.”
Meanwhile, Netform R&D operates various technology-based service platforms and commerce such as POUR Method, POUR Solution, POUR Store, and Grohome, based on technological research. It aims for an IPO (Initial Public Offering) in the second half of next year and is preparing to enter the global market with technologies and materials developed domestically.
