GS E&C announced plans to initiate the smart build era by unveiling a next-generation housing structure based on OSC (Off-Site Construction) technology.

On October 31, GS E&C held an OSC technology seminar under the theme of 'Innovation in Safe, Eco-friendly, and Future Housing' at its precast concrete (PC) manufacturing subsidiary GPC in Eumseong, Chungbuk, in collaboration with LH and the Korea Institute of Building Construction Technology. The event showcased the structure and products of next-generation PC multi-family housing utilizing OSC technology.

Additionally, the seminar presented a next-generation housing model that combines factory production and on-site assembly OSC methods with Xi's residential philosophy under the theme of 'New Proposals Responding to Changing Customer Lifestyles.'

The 'Xi PC Platform' unveiled on this day features a frame structure that allows for flexible floor plans by reducing non-load-bearing walls compared to traditional wall structures. It is said to improve product value by reducing load-bearing walls and enhancing the structure to allow for diverse space designs according to residents' preferences.

The new floor plan design of PC multi-family housing and the current status of OSC construction technology were also introduced. Furthermore, it was reported that they plan to continue discussions to expand the PC industry by sharing research results and improving systems in collaboration with public institutions and the Korea Institute of Building Construction Technology.

GS E&C reportedly verified the effect of shortening construction periods by designing to convert all construction types into PC multi-family housing using existing completed complexes as models. By the end of this year, they plan to complete the verification of construction costs compared to reinforced concrete (RC) methods and expand participation in public order PC multi-family housing projects with LH, GH, and others starting in 2026.

After the seminar, a demonstration tour of a two-story PC multi-family housing was conducted. Attendees reportedly confirmed the precise construction process, quality uniformity, and environmental burden reduction effects of the OSC method firsthand.

A GS E&C representative stated, "The OSC method is a key technology driving the digitalization and eco-friendliness of construction," adding, "We will develop into a customer-centric smart residential brand through quality innovation based on technology."

Meanwhile, GS E&C continues to research next-generation construction technologies such as prefab, modular, and AI design, centered on its subsidiary GPC and the technology brand 'XiGEIST.' They plan to continue sustainable residential innovation through technology development that enhances the function and efficiency of spaces.
