Busan National University announced on the 23rd that it will be the first university in the country to pilot the introduction of 'Artificial Intelligence (AI) Glasses' (pictured) that support interpretation and translation functions across education, research, and administration.

The AI glasses are equipment that recognizes foreign language speech in real-time at lectures, seminars, and international exchange sites and displays translated subtitles in the wearer's field of vision. They support translation in more than 20 languages, including Korean, English, Japanese, Chinese, and Spanish, with over 98% accuracy. The number of languages that can be translated is expected to expand to 70.

The AI glasses are equipped with the latest voice recognition and natural language processing technology, and are evaluated to have superior translation accuracy compared to existing smartphone language translation apps. This product was developed by Expert INC and was introduced at 'CES 2025'.

Busan National University plans to initially deploy the AI glasses to professors, administrative departments, and graduate lecture rooms to verify their effectiveness before expanding them in stages. This project is a core part of Busan National University's 'AX Transformation' initiative, aimed at verifying the suitability of introducing advanced AI technology and its applicability across learning and research.

Choi Jae-won, President of Busan National University, stated, "AI glasses will help reduce the educational gap caused by language barriers," and expressed hope that "through these glasses, outstanding talents from around the world will be able to fully demonstrate their academic capabilities at Busan National University."
