The Hyundai Global, Hyundai Department Store’s overseas market development platform for Korean brands, is officially unveiling its first store in Paris, France, the heart of European fashion, after expanding into the Asian market. Hyundai Department Store announced that it will operate a pop-up store on the third floor of the main Haussmann store of Galeries Lafayette, located in central Paris, from the 6th to the 27th (local time).
Galeries Lafayette, with a commercial history of more than 130 years, is Europe’s largest distribution network, concentrating leading luxury brands and emerging designer labels. The new space, with an area of about 79㎡, will feature five Korean fashion brands: “KIMHEKIM” as the flagship, along with “RE RHEE,” “RYE,” “FREITTER,” and “THE ILMA.” The store is located near the elevators, where visitor traffic is concentrated, and is adjacent to well-known French contemporary brands such as Sandro and A.P.C.
The store will be operated under a cooperative framework with the Korea Creative Content Agency. Hyundai Department Store will oversee event planning, logistics, and on-site store operations, while the Korea Creative Content Agency will support participating companies and promotional activities across Europe.
The Hyundai Global, which supports promising Korean brands in establishing an overseas presence, has been building its business base in 2024 by entering key Asian hubs, including Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya in Japan, and Taipei and Taichung in Taiwan. The dedicated store opened in July at Omokado in Omotesando, Tokyo, has achieved sales exceeding the initial plan by 30%, while locations at Shibuya PARCO and Taiwan’s Shin Kong Mitsukoshi have also recorded the highest sales among pop-up events in their respective commercial districts. Hyundai Department Store plans to use its entry into Paris as a springboard to further accelerate its penetration of the European market.
Furthermore, the company has set a long-term vision of gradually establishing around 10 flagship base stores in key regions, including Asia, Europe, and North America, by 2030.
Yoo Hee-yeol, head of the fashion division (executive director) at Hyundai Department Store, stated that the company is laying the groundwork for Korean brands to advance onto the global stage, and added that it will go beyond simple store expansion to broaden its support so that promising Korean brands can achieve stable growth in local markets.
