LS Cable & System subsidiary Gaon Cable is entering the Canadian public power grid market for the first time. Gaon Cable announced on the 9th that it will supply medium-voltage (MV) cables to a major public power utility in western Canada. This is the first time the company has won a contract to supply medium-voltage cables to Canadian companies or institutions. It has expanded its North American business, which had previously focused on private industrial facilities such as artificial intelligence (AI) data centers, semiconductor plants, and power plants, into the public power grid sector.

Gaon Cable plans to expand its North American business by leveraging its headquarters and its manufacturing subsidiary in North Carolina, USA (LSCUS). The company projected that its North American sales will increase by more than 50%, from about USD 300 million (about KRW 400 billion) last year to about USD 470 million (about KRW 630 billion) this year. In Canada, projects to expand and modernize transmission and distribution networks are under way to meet rising power demand driven by the growth of AI data centers and advanced manufacturing.
