The government will invest KRW 2.3 trillion by 2030 to foster a humanoid robot ecosystem. It plans to support demand by purchasing 1,080 domestically produced humanoid robots and providing them to universities and research institutions, among others.

The Ministry of Strategy and Finance held the 2nd Fiscal Management Strategy Council on the 27th and discussed fiscal investment plans for fostering the humanoid ecosystem, implementation plans for physical artificial intelligence (AI) demonstrations in eight key sectors, plans to nurture innovative companies in new growth industries, and measures to enhance the efficiency of SME support programs across all ministries.

The government plans to invest a total of KRW 2.3 trillion by 2030, including KRW 600 billion next year, to establish mass-production systems for humanoids specialized in 10 major industries and to raise the localization rate of core components from the current 45% to 80%. Separately, it will invest KRW 2.8 trillion during this period to support physical AI demonstration projects in eight sectors: autonomous manufacturing, small and medium-sized manufacturing, agriculture, construction, logistics, ports, care services, and national defense. In addition, in four key areas—new security, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, climate tech, and K-consumer goods—the government will select 300 companies each year and provide each company with more than KRW 10 billion for up to five years.
