EVSIS, an electric vehicle charger manufacturer under Lotte Innovate, has embarked in earnest on establishing eco-friendly bus charging facilities in Indonesia, moving to penetrate the Southeast Asian market.

Indonesia, a key market in Southeast Asia, is seeing a rapid increase in demand for related facilities, supported by the administration’s policies to promote eco-friendly transportation and its plans to electrify public transit. According to an analysis report published by the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), the local government is implementing multifaceted support measures to become a base for electric vehicle production and operation in the ASEAN region. As a result, demand is expected to grow significantly for the electrification of public transportation, including buses, and for charging facilities.

The project is being carried out as an Official Development Assistance (ODA) initiative at the government level. The core objective is to build a system that centrally manages the energy required for operations, going beyond the simple deployment of individual chargers. It is considered a leading case in which a domestic charging specialist directly participates in another country’s public transportation infrastructure project and transfers both equipment and overall operating systems. EVSIS plans to expand its presence in the public sector by proposing an integrated solution that encompasses not only equipment supply but also a control platform.

This overseas expansion is underpinned by a technological foundation. EVSIS has secured control technology utilizing power line communication (PLC) modems and is targeting the North American market with ultra-fast chargers equipped with this technology. The company also possesses K-VAS technology, which enhances charging efficiency and safety by identifying battery status information in real time. In addition, it is expanding its technological scope by developing vehicle-to-grid (V2G) interconnection equipment and 1-megawatt (MW)-class ultra-fast charger prototypes. These technologies underpin the 200 kW rapid chargers and control systems to be deployed in the Indonesia project.

On July 15 at 9 a.m. local time, EVSIS held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a charging station at the Leuwipanjang Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) depot in West Java Province, Indonesia. The groundbreaking signifies that the main contract signed in December 2025 has moved into actual on-site construction.

The ceremony was attended by more than 100 participants, including Korean representatives such as Kim Do-wan, director at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Kim Sung-geun, CEO of the Chungnam Center for Creative Economy and Innovation, and Oh Young-sik, CEO of EVSIS, along with officials from the local government and related organizations, who reviewed project progress and discussed cooperation measures.

At the event, EVSIS demonstrated 200 kW rapid charging equipment and related components designed to suit operating conditions in Southeast Asia. Beyond simply delivering charging hardware, the company showcased comprehensive control capabilities essential for public transportation operations, including energy management, facility operation, and real-time monitoring.

EVSIS CEO Oh Young-sik stated that this is a case in which the company’s proprietary charging equipment and operating technologies have been applied to overseas public transportation sites. He added that EVSIS intends to use its implementation experience in Indonesia as a springboard to diversify public transportation electrification projects across Southeast Asia and expand its presence in overseas markets.
