SCL Science announced on the 8th that its independently developed Grade 4 bioabsorbable hemostatic agent “InnoSEAL Plus DL” has recently obtained a treatment material code from Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital of The Catholic University of Korea and that the initial shipment has been completed.

The treatment material code is a registration procedure that allows hospitals to use medical devices in actual clinical practice, and medical staff can prescribe and use the product only after a code has been assigned.

InnoSEAL Plus DL is a bioabsorbable hemostatic agent based on “chitosan-catechol (CHI-C),” inspired by the molecular structure of mussel adhesive proteins. It was developed to enable hemostasis independently of the action of blood coagulation proteins, allowing its use in patients taking anticoagulants or those with coagulation disorders.

According to the company, the product was granted National Health Insurance reimbursement coverage last year, and the reimbursement ceiling price is KRW 239,950 (11×5 cm). The company explained that, compared with the price of the standard imported fibrin patch at KRW 382,395 (9.5×4.8 cm), it has unit-area price competitiveness.

SCL Science stated that it is currently working to expand treatment material code acquisition to other St. Mary’s Hospitals under The Catholic University of Korea and plans to pursue entry into major domestic tertiary general hospitals as well as overseas markets in the future.
