The government will significantly increase fiscal investment and grant tax benefits over the next 10 years to foster key green industries such as solar power. It also aims to secure next-generation solar cell technologies by 2030.

On the 16th, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Koo Yoon-cheol visited the Solaseado site in Haenam-gun, South Jeolla Province, and convened the third meeting of the Public-Private Council for Corporate Innovation Support. Haenam Solaseado is the largest renewable energy city in Korea.

At the meeting, the “Korean-Style Green Transformation (K-GX) Strategy” was introduced. The government plans to pursue: △ a green transformation (GX) that serves as a new growth engine for companies △ a GX in which individuals, companies, regions, and society all participate △ a sustainable GX. To achieve sustainable GX, it intends to increase fiscal investment over 10 years and provide innovative tax incentives.

The government will also support next-generation solar technologies. It plans to begin mass production of ultra-high-efficiency tandem cells by 2030. It will secure original technology for perovskite, known as a next-generation solar cell, and promote its commercialization. Perovskite-based tandem cells have excellent light absorption and are regarded as a core technology for the era of space artificial intelligence (AI) data centers.

Starting with visits to future growth industry sites in the Seonam (southwestern) and Daegyeong (Daegu-Gyeongbuk) regions on the 16th and 17th, Vice Prime Minister Koo will tour regional future growth industry locations. He stated, “Through a ‘grand spatial transformation of the national territory’ that uses the entire country broadly and evenly, the government will build a mega-regional economic and living zone that attracts people and companies.”
