Artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductor startup FuriosaAI is joining hands with global semiconductor company Broadcom to develop next-generation AI accelerators.

On the 28th, FuriosaAI announced that it had signed a partnership with Broadcom to jointly develop next-generation AI accelerators. AI accelerators refer to dedicated semiconductors, or hardware devices equipped with them, that are designed to rapidly process the computations required for AI models to train and perform inference. They are devices that quickly execute the tasks needed for AI such as ChatGPT to compute massive volumes of data and generate answers.

The two companies plan not to stop at simple semiconductor chip development, but to pursue the establishment of an infrastructure platform that encompasses AI computing, networking, and software. Their aim is to build a platform that can efficiently handle large-scale AI services in data centers by combining FuriosaAI’s next-generation neural processing unit (NPU) with Broadcom’s ultra-high-speed networking technology.

The next-generation platform will be based on the technological capabilities and commercialization achievements secured through FuriosaAI’s second-generation accelerator “Renegade (RNGD).” The two companies plan to produce prototypes of the next-generation AI accelerators in the first half of 2028.
