PersonaAI (CEO Yoo Seung-jae) announced on the 18th that it has been selected as the lead institution for the “Generative AI Leading Talent Training Project” promoted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Institute of Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation (IITP).
The project is a national strategic initiative designed to systematically cultivate core talent in the field of generative artificial intelligence and to strengthen practical research and development capabilities that meet industrial demand.
PersonaAI has proposed “Development of an On-Local Multi-Domain Generative AI System Based on a High-Performance Lightweight H-MoE Foundation Model” as the project theme and will form a consortium together with Korea University, Chung-Ang University, and Gachon University.
In this project, as the corporate lead institution, PersonaAI will provide generative AI foundation model APIs and research data, and will spearhead the development of core technologies based on a Korean-specialized small language model (sLLM), a multimodal-specialized sLLM, and on-device video generation AI technology.
The universities participating as joint R&D institutions will conduct R&D for each research project, producing academic papers and technological outcomes, and will support students’ on-site participation and enhancement of research capabilities by organizing results presentations and selecting outstanding researchers.
The research will consist of three core projects: △ Development of factuality-based Korean high-performance lightweight LLM RAG generative AI technology △ Development of on-local lightweight LLM-based user context recognition and domain agent technology △ Development of display-characteristics-based on-device lightweight generative AI video optimization technology.
A PersonaAI official stated, “Through this project, we will secure competitiveness in Korean-centric lightweight generative AI technology and realize on-device AI solutions that can be utilized in actual industrial settings,” adding, “We will contribute to nurturing generative AI talent at a global level based on industry-academic collaboration.”
Meanwhile, the Generative AI Leading Talent Training Project is characterized by the simultaneous promotion of technology development and talent cultivation through close cooperation between industry and academia, and is expected to play an important role in strengthening the competitiveness of the domestic generative AI ecosystem going forward.
