Proprietary artificial intelligence (AI) models developed by major Korean AI companies (K-AI models) are expanding their presence as they are applied across various everyday settings, including calls, translation, driving, education, and finance. The Ministry of Science and ICT, which has been promoting the “Proprietary AI Foundation Model (Dokpamo)” project to foster a national AI model, on the 11th directly introduced major use cases of K-AI models, such as those of LG AI Research and Naver Cloud.

“Exaone,” the AI model of LG AI Research participating in the Dokpamo project, is embedded in LG Uplus’s AI agent “ixi-O” to support call services. It automatically summarizes conversations by interpreting the context and detects and alerts in real time to potential voice phishing risks. SK Telecom has unveiled “A.Dot Auto,” an in-vehicle AI agent based on its proprietary AI model “A.X (A.Dot X).” It enables users to perform navigation, music playback, vehicle control, and information searches using only voice commands while driving.

In the financial sector, the Bank of Korea has adopted and is operating “BOKI,” a finance- and economy-dedicated generative AI platform built on Naver Cloud’s AI model. This is the first case among central banks worldwide to build an in-house AI platform. In addition, Motif Technologies, newly joining the Dokpamo project, is working to apply its own AI model to “QANDA,” an AI-based math learning service of math education specialist Mathpresso.

The Ministry of Science and ICT plans to conduct the second-stage evaluation of the Dokpamo project in August for four teams: LG AI Research, SKT, Upstage, and Motif Technologies.
