A future-oriented advanced agri-industrial forward base valued at KRW 254.6 billion will be established in Muan, Jeollanam-do. The Jeollanam-do Provincial Government announced on the 29th that it had been selected as the preferred negotiation partner for the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs’ National Agricultural Artificial Intelligence Transformation (AX) Platform Construction Project.

This project is a national initiative to transform smart agriculture into an AI- and robot-based intelligent farming solution platform in order to overcome structural crises in agriculture such as abnormal climate conditions and labor shortages.

Jeollanam-do and Muan-gun, in partnership with a private consortium comprising Daedong Co., Ltd., LG CNS, Daeyoung GS, and Art Farm Agricultural Corporation, will implement a project totaling KRW 254.6 billion, including KRW 43.9 billion in state funding. A public-private joint special purpose company (SPC) will be established, and over the next five years an AI agriculture forward base will be built in the Haeje-myeon area of Muan-gun. Jeollanam-do plans to conclude an implementation agreement within 60 days and complete the establishment of the SPC within this year.

Daedong, the consortium’s lead company, will take overall charge of operating the SPC based on its smart agricultural machinery technology. LG CNS will be responsible for building the AI and data solution platform and information technology (IT) infrastructure, while Daeyoung GS will handle construction of high-tech greenhouses and related infrastructure. Art Farm Agricultural Corporation in Gangjin will participate in on-site farming operations and demonstration of crop cultivation models.

Through this project, Jeollanam-do plans to advance third-generation intelligent smart agriculture in which AI supports farming decision-making, and to introduce a fourth-generation, robot-based unmanned autonomous smart farming model. Yu Deok-gyu, Director General of the Agriculture, Livestock and Food Bureau of Jeollanam-do, said, “With the participation of the country’s leading companies and pioneering farmers from the Jeonnam region, Jeollanam-do will be developed into an AI-centered advanced agri-industrial hub.”
