Hanwha Vision announced on the 23rd that it had signed a “strategic partnership for technological cooperation” with global AI semiconductor company Ambarella at The Plaza on the 20th. The partnership aims to develop next-generation video security technologies.
Key executives including Kim Dong-sun, Executive Vice President and Head of Future Vision at Hanwha Vision, and Fermi Wang, CEO of Ambarella, attended the event.
Under the agreement, the two companies will cooperate on the development of AI video security technologies, including next-generation system-on-chip (SoC) solutions. Hanwha Vision stated that it expects to introduce more advanced AI video security solutions by combining its own cutting-edge video processing technologies with Ambarella’s AI capabilities.
Founded in 2004, Ambarella is a U.S. semiconductor company that develops AI processing processors used in security cameras, autonomous vehicles, robots, and drones. Its core architecture, “CVflow,” is highly regarded in the field of AI video analytics.
Through this partnership, Hanwha Vision plans to expand the application scope of its AI technologies beyond video security and strengthen its position in global markets. The partnership is also expected to have a positive impact on creating synergies between the Tech Solutions and Life Solutions divisions being pursued by Hanwha Group.
Currently, the Tech division is pushing to utilize AI video analytics technologies for hygiene and safety management, as well as customer pattern analysis, at Life division sites. The plan is to apply new technologies first to the Life division and then develop them into new business models.
Kim Dong-sun, Executive Vice President and Head of Future Vision at Hanwha Vision, said, “Let us jointly lead the global market through continuous technological innovation enabled by diverse collaboration.”
Fermi Wang, CEO of Ambarella, said, “This partnership will have a major impact on Ambarella’s growth going forward.”
