A manufacturing base producing physical artificial intelligence (AI), hydrogen, and defense industry components will be established in Buan County, North Jeolla Province.
According to Buan County on the 16th, North Jeolla Province, Buan County, and DH Group recently signed an investment agreement (MOU).
Under this agreement, DH Group will invest KRW 150 billion in Buan County’s 3rd Agricultural and Industrial Complex from this year through 2032 to build manufacturing facilities equipped with production lines for industrial robots, automation components, and defense industry production equipment.
The group also plans to gradually expand hydrogen mobility component production facilities and future technology research and development functions.
DH Group is a mid-sized company that has steadily grown in the home appliance and automotive parts sectors since its establishment in 2011. It has six affiliates, including DH Global and DH Autoware. By cooperating with major domestic conglomerates such as Samsung Electronics and Hyundai Motor, it has secured a stable production base and technological competitiveness, and recently has expanded its business into future strategic industries such as industrial robots, hydrogen containers, and defense components.
In particular, DH Group Chairman Lee Jung-kwon is an entrepreneur from Buan County who has continued donations and sponsorship activities for local community development, maintaining close interest in his hometown.
Buan County expects that once this investment is completed, it will directly employ 310 people and create up to 900 direct and indirect jobs. The county anticipates that attracting companies focused on advanced manufacturing industries will serve as an opportunity to shift Buan’s industrial structure toward high value-added sectors.
Buan County Mayor Kwon Ik-hyun said, “We will create an environment in which companies and the region can grow together by providing active administrative support so that investing companies can settle and grow stably in the area.”
