KEPCO KPS and the Jeonnam Development Corporation have joined forces to pursue an energy transition centered on renewable energy.

KEPCO KPS and the Jeonnam Development Corporation announced on the 27th that they had signed a “Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Business Cooperation in Preparation for an Energy Transition Centered on Renewable Energy.”

Through this agreement, KEPCO KPS, a state-owned enterprise specializing in power facility maintenance, and the Jeonnam Development Corporation, a public corporation under South Jeolla Province, agreed to establish a region-based energy cooperation model. KEPCO KPS plans to support the stable operation of renewable energy facilities based on the technological capabilities it has accumulated in the maintenance, operation, and management of power generation facilities. The Jeonnam Development Corporation intends to leverage the region’s abundant renewable energy resources and its development experience to accelerate project implementation.

The two organizations plan to create a successful model that leads to revitalization of the local economy and job creation by expanding the scope of cooperation from renewable energy projects such as wind and solar power centered on South Jeolla Province to new energy businesses including hydrogen.

The MOU encompasses broad areas of cooperation, including joint development, investment, and operation of wind power projects; cultivation of specialized personnel and establishment of maintenance infrastructure; joint projects in solar and hydrogen; and joint participation in technology development and research projects.

Kim Hong-yeon, President of KEPCO KPS, stated, “This agreement is a starting point for building a sustainable energy ecosystem through cooperation among public institutions,” adding, “We will concentrate all our capabilities to ensure it leads to tangible results.”
