Expanding communication through expert forums and seminars
Strengthening Korea-centered collaboration projects with global companies
dsm-firmenich announced on the 23rd that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korean Nutrition Society to strengthen industry-academic cooperation in the fields of nutrition and health. The company stated that this agreement establishes a framework for long-term collaboration by combining the expertise of academia and industry, and creates a foundation for translating tangible outcomes from nutrition research into industrial practice.
The Korean Nutrition Society is the institution that has established the Dietary Reference Intakes for Koreans (KDRIs) based on data from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (a national research project that investigates the nutritional status of the population), and has played a key role in setting nutritional standards and developing legal guidelines. The society is also regarded as a leading institution that provides scientific evidence for public nutrition policies overall, including the review of nutrient reference values, labeling, and warning statements.
Under this agreement, the two parties plan to pursue various exchange activities, including joint research, academic seminars, and expert forums. Through these initiatives, they aim to share the latest research trends and real-world application cases and build a collaborative ecosystem in which research outcomes and industrial needs are organically aligned.
Jeong Hyo-Ji, former president of the Korean Nutrition Society, said, “This agreement is an important opportunity for academic achievements in the field of nutrition to make a real contribution to industry. Through joint research and academic activities based on scientific evidence, we will contribute to improving public health.”
Jeong Eun-Ji, country head of dsm-firmenich Korea, stated, “We will position Korea as a cooperation hub in the field of nutrition and health and jointly pursue our social responsibilities. We appreciate the society’s expertise and dedication and will work through mutual cooperation to build a sustainable nutrition ecosystem.”
Meanwhile, dsm-firmenich Korea received a plaque of appreciation from the Korean Nutrition Society in recognition of its contributions to nutrition and health research and to industry-academic cooperation. The company stated that, leveraging this agreement, it plans to further expand academic exchanges and expert collaboration, and to strengthen its long-term partnership with academia.
dsm-firmenich is a global company launched in May 2023 through a merger of equals between DSM and Firmenich, and promotes the vision “We bring progress to life.” With a broad product portfolio that includes nutrients, flavors, and ingredient development, the company operates in more than 60 countries worldwide.
