The Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) announced on the 22nd that it had supported small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in their overseas expansion by operating the LH K-Tech Pavilion at “The Big 5 Global,” a construction materials exhibition held in Dubai, UAE, last year.
The Big 5 Global is regarded as the world’s largest exhibition for the architecture and construction industry and represents the building and infrastructure markets of the Middle East and North Africa. It was held from 24 to 27 November last year at the Dubai World Trade Centre. A total of 165 countries participated, with exhibitors from 74 countries. The exhibition hosted 2,698 companies and attracted approximately 85,000 visitors.
At this exhibition, 15 outstanding SMEs participated and achieved overseas performance totaling KRW 9.1 billion, including 22 memoranda of understanding worth KRW 7.3 billion and 19 contracts worth KRW 1.8 billion.
Since 2023, LH has participated in overseas exhibitions and operated the LH K-Tech Pavilion to promote the new technologies and superior products of Korean construction-sector SMEs and to support the development of overseas sales channels. For this exhibition, SMEs were selected that possess excellent technologies and products in fields such as AI technology, LH growth new technologies, and start-up and venture companies. The selection process included an assessment of market demand for entry into the Middle East and verification of buyer-matching potential.
LH provided financial and administrative support to participating companies, including exhibition hall rental, installation and dismantling of booths, round-trip transportation of exhibits, hiring of local interpreters, and production of promotional materials, to ensure smooth B2B consultations with overseas buyers. A total of 390 consultations were held during the exhibition period.
Lee Sang-jo, Head of LH’s Smart Construction and Safety Division, said, “We operate the LH K-Tech Pavilion every year to support SMEs that, despite having excellent technologies, face difficulties in developing overseas markets,” adding, “We will strengthen support across all areas, from discovering new technologies of SMEs and improving product quality to securing stable sales channels.”
