Renault Korea Motors announced on the 14th that it had unveiled its new flagship crossover vehicle “Filante” in a world premiere at the Grand Walkerhill Hotel in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, on the 13th. Filante, a model that combines the driving stability of a sedan with the space utility of an SUV (sports utility vehicle), is scheduled to launch in the domestic market in March. The sales price starts from KRW 43,310,000, and tax benefits are expected to apply once eco-friendly vehicle certification is completed.
Filante is a model jointly designed by the Renault Design Centers in Korea and France, adopting a new body structure that adjusts the proportions of a sedan and the height of an SUV. The body measures 4,915mm in length, 1,890mm in width, and 1,635mm in height, making it lower and longer than existing Renault models. It resembles a coupé form, and the overall proportions are designed with aerodynamics in mind.
The front section features Renault’s emblem, the “lozenge” logo, and grille lighting. A “welcome good-bye lighting” function has been added, which automatically switches the headlamps and rear lamps on and off when the engine is started or turned off, while the rear is designed with a rear spoiler and LED rear lamps that make the vehicle appear wider. The exterior is available in five colors, with 19-inch and 20-inch wheels offered.
The interior has been designed under the “premium tech lounge” concept. Eco-friendly Nappa synthetic leather materials are used, and the ergonomic seat structure is said to reduce fatigue during long-distance driving. Based on a 2,820mm wheelbase, rear legroom is 320mm and headroom is up to 886mm.
All trims are equipped with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) for noise reduction. The standard audio system is an Arkamys 8-speaker setup, with a BOSE 10-speaker system available as an option. Higher trims come standard with double-laminated sound-insulating glass.
The panoramic glass roof uses silver (Ag) coating and solar film to enhance heat-blocking performance. A three-zone automatic air conditioning system, PM2.5 purification function, and post-ignition ventilation function are applied to maintain interior air quality. Trunk capacity is 633 liters as standard and can be expanded to a maximum of 2,050 liters when the second-row seats are folded down.
Filante is equipped with an upgraded E-Tech hybrid powertrain. Combining a 1.5-liter turbocharged direct-injection engine with two electric motors (100kW drive motor and 60kW starter motor), it delivers a total output of 250 horsepower. Combined fuel efficiency is 15.1km/L, and in urban driving conditions, approximately 75% of driving can be performed in electric mode. The frequency-selective damping (SFD) system automatically adjusts damping force according to road vibration characteristics, providing ride comfort at low speeds and body stability at high speeds.
Renault Korea has equipped Filante with up to 34 driver assistance and safety features. “Emergency Steering Assist” helps steer automatically when a sudden hazard is detected at medium speeds, while the “rear occupant detection system (radar-based)” recognizes movement of people or pets inside the vehicle after the engine is turned off and issues alerts.
A Level 2 autonomous driving assistance system is standard on all trims. Ultra-high-strength hot press forming (HPF) steel is used for 18% of the body. An integrated Hi-pass smart rearview mirror has also been newly applied.
The front interior features an “openR panoramic screen” consisting of three connected 12.3-inch displays. The AI voice assistant “A.Dot Auto” learns the driver’s driving patterns to recommend destinations and control vehicle functions. Through voice commands, the driver can operate navigation, music, calls, and window opening/closing. The AI assistant “Tips” provides real-time guidance on vehicle manual information, and driving-linked games “R:Racing” and “R:Rush” are installed.
Filante provides 5G data service for five years. This enables the use of TMAP AUTO navigation, Naver Whale browser, OTT and music streaming, and Web App services. The vehicle supports a Wi-Fi hotspot function and can connect multiple devices.
Through over-the-air updates (FOTA), approximately 85% of control units can be updated remotely, and the “My Renault” smartphone app enables remote engine start, climate control, and digital key settings.
Renault Korea plans to operate the “R:assure Premium Care Solution” for buyers. For three years or up to 45,000km after delivery, engine oil sets, air conditioner filter replacement, and regular inspections are provided free of charge three times, and one brake fluid replacement is also included.
Filante is priced at KRW 43,310,000 for the Techno trim, KRW 46,960,000 for the Iconic trim, and KRW 49,710,000 for the Esprit Alpine trim. The “Esprit Alpine 1955” edition includes as standard an augmented reality head-up display, BOSE sound system, and dedicated accessories, and will be sold in limited quantities at KRW 52,180,000. Filante is manufactured at Renault Korea’s Busan plant.
