Hyungji Elite is joining hands with a Chinese company to embark in earnest on joint research and development of wearable (clothing-type) robots.

Hyungji Elite announced on the 14th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Shanghai Zhongshuai Robot Co., Ltd. (Zhongshuai Robot), a Chinese company specializing in intelligent exoskeleton robots. The two sides will jointly promote the research and development of wearable robots and their market entry. This is the first agreement announced after Fashion Group Hyungji Chairman Choi Byung-oh accompanied President Lee Jae-myung on his state visit to China from the 4th to the 7th. Zhongshuai Robot is one of China’s leading robotics companies.

The two companies will conduct research targeting Korean and Chinese customers in societies entering a super-aged phase, developing products tailored to the physical characteristics and lifestyles of elderly people. Their plan is to apply the know-how of a fashion company to robots to create designs that are “more comfortable to wear” than machines.

Zhongshuai Robot is one of China’s leading robotics companies. Chinese Premier Li Qiang personally invited Professor Homayoon Kazerooni, known as the “father of the exoskeleton robot,” during his tenure as Governor of Zhejiang Province in 2015 to establish the company.
