Eco-friendly carbon material recycling specialist Catack-H announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Posco International to cooperate in the carbon fiber recycling and circular economy business sector.

Through this agreement, the two companies will jointly pursue the stable procurement and purchase of carbon fiber recycling feedstock (scrap), and will also collaborate on exporting to global markets milled carbon and carbon fiber nonwoven fabric recycled and manufactured by Catack-H.

Catack-H is a venture company that possesses proprietary carbon fiber recycling technology based on chemical decomposition. Compared with conventional pyrolysis methods, it has dramatically reduced energy consumption by implementing the process under atmospheric pressure conditions. This technology has achieved a carbon fiber recovery rate of 95.7%, representing one of the highest levels of efficiency among currently commercialized recycling technologies.

Recycled carbon fibers produced through this process deliver an 83% reduction in energy use and an 86% reduction in CO₂ emissions, offering superior environmental value compared with virgin carbon fiber. In particular, by recovering and recycling not only carbon fiber but also epoxy, the company is drawing attention as a best-practice case of a circular economy model that “turns waste into high-performance resources.”

Posco International, recognizing Catack-H’s technological advancement and business potential, has provided support from its co-prosperity cooperation fund on two occasions. Leveraging its global network and trading capabilities, Posco International will support the development of overseas sales channels and exports for the recycled carbon fiber products manufactured by Catack-H. The company seeks rapid growth in the global B2B market, while Posco International will strengthen its new business portfolio based on eco-friendly and advanced materials.

Catack-H’s products maintain 95.7% of the tensile strength of original fiber, while being priced at less than 50%, securing both price competitiveness and performance. The company is also expanding the application of its products across various industries, including automobiles, sporting goods, construction, and industrial materials, in collaboration with global corporations.

Catack-H CEO Jung Jin-ho stated, “The cooperation with Posco International is an important turning point for Catack-H to validate its technological capabilities in the global market,” adding, “We will expand our circular economy model centered on recycled carbon fiber across high value-added industries such as aviation, automobiles, and construction.”
