HD Hyundai Electric has signed a contract to supply 765kV extra-high-voltage transformers with the largest transmission network operating power company in the United States.

HD Hyundai Electric announced on the 6th that it “has signed a contract with a U.S. power company to sequentially supply extra-high-voltage transformers by 2028.” The total order value is KRW 98.6 billion.

The company added that this contract carries significance in that it involves participation in an extra-high-voltage “backbone” transmission network project operated by a limited number of utility companies even within the United States. It is assessed that the company can secure a favorable position for additional orders related to future transmission network projects.

Having also signed a contract in September last year with the largest power company in Texas, United States, to supply 765kV extra-high-voltage transformers and reactors worth KRW 277.8 billion, HD Hyundai Electric disclosed on the 6th that, including this latest deal, it has set this year’s order target at USD 4.222 billion (approximately KRW 6.1 trillion).

This represents a 10.5% increase compared with the order target set last year. The sales target has also been set at KRW 4.35 trillion, up 11.8% from last year.

The company plans to complete on schedule the expansion of its transformer plants in Ulsan and the United States, and in parallel to enhance productivity through advancement of manufacturing processes, prior training of skilled technical personnel, and securing a stable supply chain.

In addition, it intends to stabilize and further advance at an early stage the automation systems at the Cheongju distribution campus, which is scheduled to begin full-scale operation in the first half of the year.

An HD Hyundai Electric official stated, “As global power infrastructure expansion accelerates, including wider adoption of ESS (energy storage systems) driven by the spread of AI data centers, demand for power equipment is steadily increasing,” and projected, “The company’s business opportunities are also expected to expand.”
