SK AX, which is leading AI transformation in industrial sites, announced on the 6th that its self-developed “AI Competency Certification Platform” has become the first certification system in the domestic generative AI field to receive government accreditation. The company explained that it has obtained employer qualification status under the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Human Resources Development Service of Korea’s “Corporate Qualification Government Accreditation System.” Since this year, the generative AI utilization competency certification platform and its operating scheme, run for about 3,800 SK Group members, have been recognized by the government for their effectiveness in improving work productivity and for their objectivity.
SK AX stated, “As enhancing AI utilization capabilities across entire organizations has emerged as a key task for companies, SK AX’s certification system is expected to help accelerate AI transformation in Korean industry,” adding, “This certification has significant meaning in that it proves the system can systematically measure and verify whether practitioners in various industries are able to properly utilize generative AI.”
The Corporate Qualification Government Accreditation System is a scheme under which the Human Resources Development Service of Korea comprehensively reviews the completeness of evaluation frameworks, the objectivity of evaluation results, and operational performance for in-house job qualification systems operated by companies, and then grants public credibility. SK AX was said to have received high marks for its unique structure that automates the entire process from test participation to scoring and evaluation using AI, while verifying actual job performance capabilities.
In particular, SK AX sought to differentiate itself from existing qualification systems by verifying not merely “whether AI has been learned” but “whether work can be transformed with AI.” The test is designed so that examinees solve problems using generative AI in real job scenarios such as business planning, software development, market research, and HR strategy. Evaluation is based on deliverables that can be used immediately on the job, such as reports, spreadsheets, source code, and diagrams.

The certification process is divided into two stages. The first stage, “AI Literacy,” verifies understanding of the basic principles of generative AI, use of prompts, and the ability to apply AI to routine tasks. Members participate in learning and testing via an online platform and are evaluated on their AI literacy and execution capabilities in real work contexts.
The next stage, “AI Boot Camp,” verifies a higher level of AI utilization capability. Through practice-oriented training, including Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG)-based systems and web/app development with AI functions, participants directly design and develop AI agent services and receive certification based on technical evaluation of their deliverables.
According to SK AX, all stages—from training and practice to evaluation and scoring—are operated on an AI-based online platform, a feature designed to enable use even in large-scale organizations.
Kim Min-hwan, Head of HRX Initiative at SK AX, said, “AI transformation is no longer confined to specific departments or experts; it now requires the internalization of capabilities and change management by all members,” adding, “This government accreditation demonstrates that SK AX’s AI education and certification model, verified in actual industrial settings, has secured public credibility.” He continued, “We will further advance the certification system so that it can become a standard for companies pursuing AI transformation.”
