S-1, a security company, has launched the “Samsung AI Doorcam” in collaboration with Samsung Electronics. The Samsung artificial intelligence (AI) Doorcam is an intelligent home security product that combines S-1’s dispatch infrastructure and AI video analysis technology with Samsung Electronics’ SmartThings platform. It was developed to further strengthen the safety of residential spaces by integrating S-1’s security operation know-how accumulated over more than 40 years with Samsung Electronics’ Internet of Things (IoT) technology.

The Samsung AI Doorcam emphasizes several features: △ enhancing response to concerns over parcel loss through a dual camera and AI video analysis technology △ providing a 24-hour dispatch service (paid) for serious crimes △ increasing reliability by applying advanced domestic technologies to address hacking and other security concerns caused by substandard overseas products △ and strengthening everyday security convenience through SmartThings integration.

According to the Korea Consumer Agency, of 1,149 applications for relief related to parcel delivery over the past three years, “loss” accounted for the largest share at 37.1%. The Samsung AI Doorcam addresses this with an upper-lower dual camera structure. The upper camera records visitors’ faces, while the lower camera records parcels placed on the ground. Images captured by the lower camera are transmitted to a cloud-based AI analysis server, which sends notifications when parcels arrive or disappear.

According to 2024 crime statistics from the National Police Agency, approximately 26% of serious crimes occurred within residences. The Samsung AI Doorcam provides a 24-hour emergency dispatch service (a separate paid subscription service). In an emergency situation, nearby S-1 personnel are dispatched to the site. Utilizing S-1’s dispatch infrastructure of over 100 locations nationwide, it provides immediate on-site response.

The Samsung AI Doorcam is manufactured domestically and has passed Samsung Electronics’ security standards, minimizing the risk of hacking and video leaks. It is also linked with Samsung Electronics’ smart home platform “SmartThings,” allowing users to view footage through the SmartThings app. When a visitor presses the doorbell, real-time video can be viewed on Samsung Smart TVs, Bespoke AI Family Hub refrigerators, Bespoke AI Combo and washing machines that are connected to SmartThings, enabling residents to check visitors immediately even while cooking or relaxing in the living room. A two-way voice call function via the SmartThings app is also supported, allowing real-time conversations with visitors without having to go to the intercom. An S-1 official said, “We will help create an era in which security is naturally embedded throughout daily life.”
