Doosan Enerbility has signed a core nuclear steam supply system contract worth KRW 5.6 trillion for the construction of new nuclear power plants in the Czech Republic. As the Czech nuclear power project secured by “Team Korea” moves into a concrete implementation phase, expectations are rising that a favorable wind will blow across the entire domestic nuclear power ecosystem.

Doosan Enerbility disclosed on the 16th that it has signed a contract with Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) to supply main equipment for Units 5 and 6 of the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant in the Czech Republic. The contract consists of approximately KRW 4.93 trillion for the supply of nuclear steam supply system (NSSS) facilities and about KRW 710 billion for the supply of turbines and generators.

This contract is a follow-up measure to the main contract that KHNP signed with ČEZ, the Czech power company, in July. After KHNP was selected as the preferred negotiating partner, it finalized the main contract and subsequently concluded a detailed supply agreement with Doosan Enerbility, the manufacturer of the primary equipment.

Doosan Enerbility will manufacture and supply the core facilities of the 1,000 MW-class Korean nuclear reactor (APR1000) to be installed at Dukovany Units 5 and 6 in the Czech Republic. The reactor produces heat through nuclear fission, while the turbines and generators use this heat to produce electricity, serving as the heart of the nuclear power plant.

Manufacturing is scheduled to begin in November 2027, with sequential deliveries continuing through 2032. The overall contract period runs until April 2038, when completion of Dukovany Unit 6 is scheduled.
