Kia announced on the 9th that its first purpose-built vehicle (PBV) electric car, 'The Kia PV5' (pictured), has received the highest rating of five stars in the Euro NCAP commercial van assessment. Following the EV6, EV9, and EV3, this commercial model also achieved the top rating, demonstrating the safety of its electric vehicles.

Euro NCAP, along with the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) in the United States, is a globally trusted safety assessment standard. The commercial van evaluation, which began in 2021, comprehensively examines three categories: driving safety, collision prevention, and post-collision protection systems.

The PV5 Cargo scored evenly across all evaluation categories. It was particularly noted for its driver monitoring system and intelligent speed limit assist function, which effectively support safe driving. The forward collision prevention assist system accurately detects not only vehicles but also pedestrians and cyclists to prevent accidents. The lane departure prevention assist system also contributes to maintaining stable driving, according to evaluations.

The high safety of the PV5 is derived from its design based on the PBV-dedicated platform 'E-GMP.S'. The multi-frame structure at the front effectively disperses energy in the event of a collision, and the ultra-high-strength steel and hot-stamped steel plates applied to the vehicle's lower body provide high rigidity and durability. Additionally, it incorporates advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) such as seven airbags, navigation-based smart cruise control, and highway driving assist, achieving comprehensive safety.
