On the 7th, the Global Innovation Center (KIC China) hosted the 'Korea-China Hydrogen Energy Innovation and Performance Transition Korean Innovation Enterprise Roadshow (K-Demo Day)' in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China.

This event was held as one of the official forums of the '2025 GSF (Greater Bay Area Science) Forum'. The GSF Forum is a national-level international science and technology event co-hosted by China's Ministry of Science and Technology and Guangdong Province, and is considered one of the three major national-level science and technology forums alongside the Zhongguancun Forum (Beijing) and the Pujiang Forum (Shanghai).

Yao Huarong, Chairman of the Guangdong Science and Technology Management Research Association, emphasized in his opening remarks, “The hydrogen industry is a core area that the Greater Bay Area will focus on nurturing in the future,” and stated, “If Korea’s technological capabilities are combined with China’s market and infrastructure, a new model for global hydrogen economy development can be created.”

Indeed, the hydrogen industry is attracting attention as a field where a new Korea-China cooperation model is possible. Korea has secured high technological capabilities in hydrogen fuel cells, water electrolysis, and mobility, while China is rapidly advancing its industry following the government's hydrogen economy promotion policy. This event also aimed to continue the cooperation in emerging fields such as energy, as agreed upon at the Korea-China summit on the 1st of last month.

The event was attended by 250 participants, including nine Korean hydrogen innovation companies and representatives from the governments, economic sectors, and academia of both Korea and China. The organizers stated, “Participants exchanged views on various cooperation measures regarding the technological level and market expansion potential of the Korea-China hydrogen industry.”

KIC plans to conduct a 'Guangdong Province Industry Tour and Korea-China Entrepreneur Exchange Meeting' with participating companies for two days starting from the 8th. They will directly explore the hydrogen industry infrastructure and ecosystem of the Greater Bay Area and explore possibilities for technological cooperation, localized production, and R&D collaboration between related companies in Korea and China.

Kim Jong-moon, Head of KIC China Center, stated, “Korean hydrogen companies have already achieved a world-class level of technology,” and expressed hope that this event will serve as an opportunity to expand joint development and investment cooperation between the two countries, and for Korean companies to enhance their global competitiveness by utilizing China’s hydrogen industry supply chain.”
