Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder and his wife visited the Kolmar Group's Sejong plant with key figures from the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The visit was facilitated by the long-standing personal relationship with Dong-Han Yoon, Chairman of Kolmar Korea, and included an inspection of the cosmetics and health functional food production sites to explore new business possibilities.
Kolmar Holdings announced on the 5th that on the 2nd, former Chancellor Schröder, his wife So-Yeon Kim, Chair of the Schröder-Kim Nonprofit Foundation, Mohamed Al Hosani, Chief Executive Officer of the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO, a foreign investment attraction agency), and Maid Al Hammadi, Chairman of the Emirates-Korea Friendship Society (EKFS, an organization for promoting bilateral friendship), visited the Kolmar Korea and Kolmar BNH Sejong plant.
The delegation toured the latest manufacturing facilities at the Sejong plant, focusing on the cosmetics mixing and packaging lines and the health functional food production process, confirming the group's technological capabilities and quality management standards.
After the tour, the Schröders held a separate meeting with Chairman Dong-Han Yoon and Yeo-Won Yoon, Co-CEO of Kolmar BNH's Social Contribution Division. During this meeting, they shared Kolmar Group's global supply chain strengths and strategies for entering the UAE market.
The relationship between the two dates back to 2014. At that time, So-Yeon Kim was serving as the head of the Korean office of the Trade and Investment Promotion Agency of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, where she met Chairman Yoon, who was the president of the World Class 300 Enterprise Association. She facilitated Chairman Yoon's efforts to promote technological cooperation with RWTH Aachen University (one of Europe's top engineering schools) and the Fraunhofer Institute (a network of industrial application research), playing a key role in establishing partnerships between Korean leading companies and German research institutes and enterprises.
Chairman Yoon stated, "I am pleased that the deep bond with former Chancellor Schröder and his wife has led to their visit to the Sejong plant. The couple's contribution to strengthening Korea-Germany relations is significant, and they are expected to provide substantial assistance in Kolmar Group's expansion into the Middle East and Europe, including the UAE."
