Starlink is being introduced at Lotte World Tower as the first on-land site in Korea.

Lotte Property & Development announced on the 4th that it plans to install and pilot Starlink Zones at two locations: the comprehensive disaster prevention center on the first basement level and the evacuation safety zone on the 22nd floor of Lotte World Tower. There are plans to expand the Starlink Zones to other evacuation safety zones and areas within the complex where crowds gather.

Lotte Property & Development decided to introduce Starlink to enhance disaster response capabilities. The plan is to upgrade the fire and disaster prevention system of Lotte World Tower using Starlink. Starlink's low-earth orbit communication allows connectivity without ground base stations or undersea cables. This means that even if the communication network is lost due to a fire at a ground base station or an accidental disruption during construction, internet connectivity remains unaffected. By introducing Starlink at Lotte World Tower, Lotte Property & Development has established an uninterrupted backup communication system available 24/7, 365 days a year.

Lotte World Tower is equipped with five evacuation safety zones every 20 floors. Additionally, in the event of a fire, these zones are completely isolated from the outside and can withstand fire for two hours, with a total of 19 dedicated evacuation elevators to assist in rapid escape. Lotte Property & Development has installed Starlink Zones here to ensure communication within, outside, and between floors of the building, even in extreme emergency situations.
