Hyundai Motor Company and Kia unveiled the mass-production model of their autonomous mobility robot platform 'MobED' for the first time globally at the 'International Robot Exhibition 2025 (IREX)' held at Tokyo Big Sight, Japan, on the 3rd (local time). MobED is a versatile mobile robot platform capable of stable driving across various terrains and environments.

At this exhibition, Hyundai and Kia showcased the mass-production MobED and its industrial top module combination model, demonstrating its potential applications in research, delivery, logistics, and filming.

MobED is designed with four independently driven wheels and an eccentric posture control mechanism, allowing individual control of power, steering, and body posture through motors mounted on each wheel. This enables it to maintain balance stably even on slopes, bumps, and curbs up to 20cm high. The platform's top features mounting rails and control ports for attaching various devices according to purpose, enhancing its utility.

The product line is divided into a basic model for research and experimentation and a pro model capable of AI-based autonomous driving. The pro model uses LiDAR and camera sensors to recognize people and obstacles, ensuring safe driving in complex indoor and outdoor environments. It is applicable in various industrial settings such as delivery and filming.

User convenience has also been enhanced. A 3D graphics-based touch screen remote controller allows easy operation even for those with low technical understanding. MobED measures 74cm in width, 115cm in length, has a top speed of 10km/h, and can operate for up to 4 hours on a single charge. Its load capacity ranges from 47 to 57kg.

Hyungdong Jin, Executive Director of Hyundai Motor and Kia Robotics Lab, stated, "MobED is a next-generation mobility solution that goes beyond simple transportation, applicable in various industries and daily life," adding, "We aim to set new standards in the global robot market and accelerate a future where humans and robots coexist."

Hyundai and Kia plan to begin selling MobED in the first half of next year.
