Yuhan University's RISE (Regional Innovation System Enhancement) project group announced on the 3rd that it visited Da Nang, Vietnam from November 25 to 28 and held meetings with three prestigious universities and high-ranking officials of Da Nang City. This visit to Vietnam was initiated to establish a global talent development model linked to regional specialized industries, which is a core area of the RISE project, and to spread Yuhan University's excellent educational content abroad.
The project group held individual meetings with key officials such as the Vice Mayor of Da Nang, the Secretary-General of the People's Committee, the Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Director of Foreign Affairs, and the Deputy Director of the Investment Promotion Agency (IPA). Discussions were held on the '2030 Cultural Industry Development' of Da Nang City and inter-university cooperation for human resource development. At the Da Nang Cultural Industry Development Seminar, Kim Tae-woo, head of the RISE project group (professor) and Kang Hyun-jong, professor of Animation and Webtoon, presented a vision utilizing the technological capabilities of Yuhan University's AI Video Center. The plan was to transform My Khe Beach, a symbolic space in Da Nang, into the world's first interactive art theme park and Marble Mountain into a theater of nature. It aimed to create a new cultural and artistic platform by turning Da Nang's sea and rocky mountains into a digital stage that tells stories with light. Following the seminar, practical discussions continued with the Da Nang TV board about AI Video Center training for broadcasting station employees.
Through an MOU with Duy Tan University, an introduction to Yuhan University and a short program briefing were also conducted. Duy Tan University is the first private research-oriented university in Vietnam to be authorized for a doctoral program. It has achieved high performance in international evaluations, entering the QS World University Rankings within the top 500. There was particular interest in the AI Video Center, Aviation Service Department, and Animation and Webtoon major. Professor Lim Hyun-joo of the Aviation Service Department explained the Aviation Training Center, followed by detailed discussions on training.
The project group discussed with the President of VKU (Vietnam-Korea University) about Yuhan University's short programs and linkage with the AI Video Center in advanced major fields such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Semiconductor (IC) design. VKU is a Korea-Vietnam cooperative university established with ODA investment from the Korean government.
Based on the achievements of this business trip to Vietnam, Yuhan University plans to establish a global talent development hub focused on specialized fields (AI, content, design, wellness) in connection with the RISE project. A Yuhan University official stated, “It is expected to create a virtuous cycle by providing excellent short programs of Yuhan University to Vietnamese students and linking them to degree programs in the future,” adding, “Yuhan University will leap forward as a global practice-oriented university leading the cultivation of innovative talents in the Asian region beyond Gyeonggi Province.”
