Samsung Electronics has conducted a regular executive reshuffle, appointing a large number of leaders expected to drive future technologies in fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and semiconductors. The number of promotions increased compared to the previous year, buoyed by a recent rebound in performance.

On the 25th, Samsung Electronics announced the 2026 regular executive appointments, promoting 51 vice presidents, 93 senior executives, 1 fellow, and 16 masters, totaling 161 executives. This year, due to favorable sales of smartphones and semiconductors, the management situation improved compared to last year, leading to more promotions. Since 2021, the number of promotions had decreased, reaching 137 last year, but this year it increased by over 17%.

The Device eXperience (DX) division saw 92 promotions, slightly up from last year's 86. The Device Solutions (DS) division, which is said to have passed through a tunnel of poor performance, also saw 69 promotions, up 18 from last year's 51.

Samsung Electronics explained, “In a rapidly changing industrial paradigm, we have appointed leaders who will drive future technologies in AI, robotics, and semiconductors to secure technological leadership.”

In the DX division, Vice President Lee Yoon-soo (50) was promoted for leading the optimization of graphics processing units (GPUs) for AI services. Robotics experts Vice President Kwon Jeong-hyun (45) and Senior Executive Choi Go-eun (41) were also recognized for securing technological competitiveness in the robotics field. In the DS division, Vice President Hong Hee-il (55) and Senior Executive Yoo Ho-in (46) were promoted for their achievements in high-bandwidth memory (HBM) development.

On this day, nine female executives, including Vice President Jeong In-hee (51) from the DX division, were promoted, and among foreigners, Vice President Jacob Zhu (47) from the DS division was appointed.

Other Samsung electronics affiliates also conducted executive appointments on this day. Samsung Display promoted a total of 23 executives, including 8 vice presidents, 13 senior executives, and 2 masters. Vice President Jeong Kyung-ho (49) was recognized for leading the development of new module films and high-strength foldable components used in the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7. Samsung SDI promoted a total of 8 executives, including 3 vice presidents and 5 senior executives. Samsung Electro-Mechanics also saw 8 promotions, including 2 vice presidents and 6 senior executives.

Additionally, Samsung Biologics promoted 2 vice presidents and 4 senior executives. Vice President Kim Hee-jung (44) was recognized for establishing a mass production system (ramp-up) at the new Plant 5, which began operations in May this year. An So-yeon, the youngest female executive in Samsung Biologics' history, was also promoted to senior executive at age 37.
